Trundler27 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 What is going on with the pitches in NZ/Aus these days? Every match so far has had a score of 300 or more.... Looks like the curators have taken crash courses from our ranji curators :giggle: IMO this is a huge advantage to the team that wins the toss unless things change drastically in the latter half of the tourney. Yesterday's pitch in Adelaide for eg was as placid as it gets with nothing in it for the new ball bowlers. I hope the tourney becomes more of an even contest rather than a non-stop ipl style run fest.

Trundler27 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Yea all I can say is that so far it looks to me that the Sub-Continental teams have a better chance of doing well in this tourney than what everyone has been giving them credit for. If it becomes a spinners tourney and if the quick bowlers are taken out of it with no reverse, no swing, no seam, field restrictions, etc then the so called favorites would not find it as easy to go all the way. The Aussies are everyone's favs to win but their batting line-up suddenly becomes suspicious if the spinners start getting serious purchase from the track and if they have to chase a 300ish total. That would also be an ideal situation for the saffers to choke in a chase in a knock-out game as well!

NareshK Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 A flat pitch means it will remain the same for both sides throughout the game, more or less. If the pitch is not good, it will get worse by the time the second team bats. The toss wont make a big difference.

Games have been producing these many runs always in last 10 years from aus and nz. Welcome to reality.

Welcome to reality. its basically repeated brainwashing from Channel9 and Sky commentary teams a fool keeps repeating that rabbits only have 3 legs and after some time everyone becomes doubtful.

Kind of how it becomes in Chepauk, once the ball gets older it becomes 2 paced and ball stops before coming to the bat. Really difficult to time the shots when it happens.
