In ODIs, possibly prime Aus was better as the ODI game evolved so much. Overall, Aus has been the #1 cricket nation but peak for peak I'd say late 70's/ 1990s WI best ever. WI had better bowling and the Aussies had much better batting. It was never going to be an one sided affair. The WI had passenger like batsman in Logie, even at their peak, showing lack of depth of batting in the side. Gilly was much superior to Dujon as a batsman. WI did not have a spinner any where in the league of Warne. The matches would have been very close. Australia was a multidimensional side - great pacemen, great spinners, great batting depth and ATG wicket keeper. The great WI team was somewhat one dimensional compared to the Aussie team.

SriLanka will go through this same phase now. Australia had to go through it aswell. We had to go through it aswell. Just cause someone is going through a Rebuild phase doesn't mean they have to call it a day.

Apart from Cap'n, replacing Younis and Shahid Khan will be quite easy. And for Cap'n, there's Fawad Alam who's better. They just need to get the selection policies right, and Amir will probably boost the attack as well.
