Very unlikely that he would be of any use on these pitches. What helped his case was his performance in the Sri Lanka series where he ended up taking some lower order batters' wickets while they were slogging. The selectors should have taken the conditions into account. No match practice in Australia as well no he does not. He is faster than Bhuvi. I can tell you right now there is a good chance Mumbai ranji team would be in the finals if Dhawal was playing for Mumbai. With bat and ball he has been an instrumental cog in the Mumbai ranji team.

Probably with the fitness issues that BK has got, he could be classified faster than BK. I was referring to swing on international quality pitches and not on Ranji tracks. Was hardly getting any any substantial swing in any of the internationals that he has played

There was a season when he was bowling 135-140. He was going through some injury problems back then. But he is not a 125-130 bowler.

vishalvirsingh Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Dhwal Kulkarni- when I have seen him bowling he has been between 126 to 135k ... he has been between 126 to 130 - 50 % of time and between 130 to 135k -fifty percent of time. his fastest balls at good length outside on the offstump is a good ball , he has a bit of outswing but not worth worrying about. Mohit Sharma is also a bit of a bowler who is varying his pace too much which is good - against Africa he was between 134 to 143k against uae he was between 131 to 137k against PAk he was between 131 to 140k he has a good bouncer and a good slow ball ..he got amla off a bouncer. IN short he is way better than Dhwal kulkarni. Umesh bowled 145k average and between 141 to 148k against UAE - he bowled the best against UAE. it was his sheer bad luck that 2 catches were dropped of his bowling. shammi bowled between 140 to 145k averaging 142k and at a length just short of good length- the bouncer he bowled to Younus could have got probably any batsman in world cricket...was like that sreesanth ball which got Kallis Out in that test. only Varun can dream of competing against shammi and Umesh and that also if Varun is doing his best...that's why I was saying varun should have replaced bhuvi

In fact, all bowlers had great economy rates there.
vishalvirsingh Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 shardul Thakur is a better bowler then DHwal.. when I say better I mean faster too... shardul is atleast 4 to 5k faster than dhwal on an average...if dhwal bowls at 130k average ,,shardul bowls at 135k at an average.

In fact, all bowlers had great economy rates there. barely better ER of 4.44 to Dhawals 4.61 but such a difference in averages (29 mohit 19 Dhawal) cannot be explained simply by luck.
nsareen Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 my choice would have been Rishi Dhawan instead of Bhuvi! Need someone who has a knack of picking up wickets as well as contribute with the bat. He did win India A the final against Australia A so definitely can bat in these conditions, and bowling was a bit expensive but not that bad either.
nsareen Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I've seen dhawal kulkarni bowl above 140+ regularly in IPL's with his booming outswingers, had a lot of batsmen in trouble, went for runs later though, but has a knack of picking wickets, that's all that matters.
