Broad sustained a broken nose, which required surgery, and two black eyes after he top-edged the ball into the grille of his helmet and is still working with a sports psychologist to try and move past the experience.

Yes , Varun is a quick bowler and he should be in the team , But Broad's helmet had a poor design that allowed the ball to sneak through the grille. Phil Hughes death was a terrible freak tragedy , but that should not detract from the fact that flat pitches and anti-fast bowler rules have diminished the beauty and thrill of cricket.

I And you shouldn't put the names Tait and Akhtar in the same sentence, Tait was crap, he was fast but you need more than pace, Tait had 3 deliveries, short-full or wide, he was taken to cleaners when tried at test level.

Tait has a very good ODI record, one of the best strike rates. He barely played any tests, only 3. I am sure if his body had permitted, he would have been successful in tests too. Even McGrath was not great in his first 5 tests. His problem was the kind of bowling action he had, it took a huge toll on his body especially legs with his big and low stride at the crease putting a lot of pressure on his knees and hamstrings.
