Nearly 19 years after it was passed in the Maharashtra Assembly , a bill prohibiting cow slaughter received the President’s nod thus rendering Maharashtra beefless. The very next day, the Patna High Court banned the release of Bollywood film "Dirty Politics" over some objectionable scenes with a division bench of the court ordering the concerned authorities not to release the film till the objectionable scenes were removed. Then the situation came back to Southern India, after the Karnataka government came out with new rules for tourism events. “If foreign tourists are participating in the programme permitted by the tourism department, their personal details must be collected,†the order adds. Another rule towards the end of the list says that when permission is granted, it must be stipulated that the organizers must video graph the event and collect an acknowledgement from the department after they have submitted the footage. The department also prohibits smoking, alcohol consumption, consumption of banned substances in public places at programmes permitted by the tourism department. Should such activities be brought to light, legal action would be initiated. Parallel to this ran the entire controversy surrounding the 'India's Daughter' documentary by the BBC. Meanwhile, the news of Censor Board beeping out the word 'lesbian' in the movie Dum Laga ke Haisha also broke out. And then came a new ban, this time the evil BDSM movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has been banned by Indian censors even after it was edited to tone down sex scenes and remove all nudity. http://www.thenewsminute.com/socials/617 :isalute:

There were cultural terrorists, bans, right-wing hooligans even in the previous few governments. Was society ultra-liberal even in UPA government? Given that situation never changes, the governance aspect brings a fresh change with the new NDA government. You still have made the right choice away from 10 years of UPA fail.

Now if the cultural terrorism, bans, right wing hooligans have not been controlled, in fact they have all increased, then she, and others who voted expecting change, are not wrong in being disappointed.

This just implies that bans have nothing to do with right or left wing. I also dont know why people are perplexed about the bans. They are legal within the context of the constitution. Keep in mind that the congress in Maharashtra have supported the beef ban. So you have the BJP-Sena-Congress who are the three largest parties in Maharashtra supporting it with a total of 230/288 members. That is an overwhelming mandate. Even calling it a beef ban is bit of a joke when buffalo meat is easily available. That censor board thing is unfortunate. With both 50 shades of grey and the lesbian word. But then again certain congress rulled state did ban the Da Vinci code. So its hardly as if you are going to get clarity with the congress.
