When Aus were 68/3, he asked for a helmet for a close-in fielder for Afridi, he asked Sohaib Maqsood to field, who flatly refused. Misbah was seen fielding at shortleg himself donning the helmet. What a sorry scene. Can't imagine anybody in any team refusing to field like what the captain is asking him to do. Sums up the Pakistan team, he is better off retired. Yeah, just watched it in the highlights and was like what is going on? It looked like Maqsood didn't want to field in the bat pad position from his body language. Maqsood: What do I do with this? Puts the gaurd back in the helmet Misbah: Ok fine, give it to me Respect to Misbah

But, yeah you gotta give the benefit of the doubt to the Maqsood though. Yeah I know Maqsood was fielding there when Clarke got out so this was strange. edit: Maqsood is seen wearing a different helmet in the next over. But it looked strange when Misbah took the helmet from him and the commentators stating no one wants it probably made it worse. .

If anyone else be in his position, he would have kicked out Afridi/Akmal/Shehzad/Maqsood long time back after throwing away their wickets for so many times.... The number of times that he had to rescue his team was unbelieavable....
adi B Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 He was the backbone of Pakistan one day line up,it was only because of his 50-60 runs(even though at snails pace) that they managed to score 230 odd now without him there will be no one to anchor the innings(it was evident against aus once he got out).Pakistan Should be really worried

But it didn't make any sense from a cricketing culture-the noobs/juniors are always voluntold for silly point and short leg positions across the levels of cricket. Yes, there might be exceptions but this is part of the cricket culture and folklore. That Maqsood would refuse to do that is a bit like the Mutiny on the Bounty ;-)

But in an era where people are scoring double tons, he has not even a single ton as a specialist batsman despite over 150 games. Yet finds himself Kaptaan of the mighty cornered tigers, strike rate barely in the 70s in this era, ironically their best bat. Lala has a better conversion rate to tons :hatsoff:
