Id rate Guptills knock better than Rohit 264 because guptills knock came in nz pitches unlike rohit's knock in batting heaven india

NZ pitches and grounDs are ridiculously easy to bat on in this WC. Even minnows were scoring triple centuries in this WC. Indian pitches and grounds are far harder to bat on than the tracks in offer in this WC. It seems to me people have a really skewed idea of what the pitches are like based on how seam friendly Aus and NZ pitches have been traditionally. With the 2 new balls, small boundaries, and pitches deliberately designed to be easy to bat on, these pitches are nothing like what Aus and NZ offer touring teams during bilateral series.

And he did get the proper 200 :nice: And if getting to the milestone first is what counts ----> Rohit is the first one to get to 250 so then there is no point in discussing a 200, as 250 - the next milestone has already been reached :P

He did not get much strike towards the end I think. But he definitely slowed down to get the 200. Don't see that as much of a problem though, as it was the first 200. Sachin needed 16 balls to move from 179 to 200 (normally you expect set batsmen to get 40-50 runs off these 16 balls at this phase of the game on these flat wickets) - could have been a match losing effort if AB at that time was the same player he is now. India ended up with 401 instead of 430.

True, that in the end it did not matter but at that point in the game, the players have to give their best (and not assume how the game would end up) .... Say that Ind is bowling first and one of the bowlers has picked up 4 wkts, would you expect him to bowl full tosses in the death overs so that eventually one of the batsman would hit out and get caught. The bowler picks up a 5 or 6 wkts? How many fans would you appreciate such a performance? .... Ind may well go on and chase the total in 45 overs, but such quest for personal milestones should not be encouraged :(( In Ind, there are more people who celebrate such performances by their fav players (won't even dream about criticizing them or stand up for the right cause). And since many are celebrating such performances, not many think it is wrong to do that. It becomes an acceptable way to go about putting personal milestones over team.

That is a bad excuse for defending personal milestones. The last five overs are meant for slogging from both ends. Personal milestones at this stage could cost the team 20-25 runs which could be the difference between win and loss.

That's not apples to apples as you don't score 10000 in an inng but due to efforts over an entire career which is being followed by many Scoring the first 200 or 100 or picking a first 5-er are equivalent :winky:
