It's depressing to see him part of A teams at this juncture of his career. For a fast bowler to be amongst the best at the international level with the limited and at his time minimal support, Kapil stands out more and more as years pass.

I know we have to persist with him more so due to lack of a better alternative but they'd be discarded by now if they were playing for any country with good fast bowling stocks. Outy is right if he had played for any other top country, he would have been a world class bowler by now.

cricketpitch Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 What FC experience Waqar- Wasim had when they made their debuts. Most potential fast bowlers are picked early. Waqar and Wasim did not have any first class experience when they were picked up to play for Pakistan but look at their career on the whole. First things first Pakistan had a legendary bowler in Imran who worked with them during the initial phase of their careers. Waqar and Wasim played lots of county cricket. India does not have a legendary bowler to work with Shami, Umesh or Aaron and none of these bowlers play county cricket. The half decent pacers we had in the last 20 years were Srinath and Zaheer. If you look at their careers, Zaheer came back a different bowler after his time in county cricket in 2006. He wasn't the same bowler before that season. Srinath had a full county season in 1994/95 and was completely a transformed bowler when he came back. So yes, you need a good amount of first class games for two reasons. 1. It will teach you to bowl in FC games as sometimes you need to bowl a lengthy spells. 2. It will help you to work on your bowling and your variations. Umesh Yadav coming in and telling to the press that he gives lots of runs because of his pace and he had a great world cup so should not be questioned shows his attitude. He does not want to play FC games. I would challenge both Aaron and Umesh to rest for the IPL and tell the same thing about wanting rest. These guys don't want to improve. They will be good to mediocre throughout their careers. They will never be even close to Wasim or Waqar even during their initial raw days they were better bowlers.

He'd be a poorer version of Shaun Tait! Yadav seems to think just bowling fast is all that is required, like Tait.

Samson, Axar, S Sharma should all be in the A team squad also.

vishalvirsingh Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I believe Paras was a 130K bowler but with good line n length. I remember him taking a lot of wickets for Mumbai and was a venkatesh Prasad mould bowler...I believe he wud be a good bowling coach and shud help varun , umesh and mithun.
