Players who did not perform to their best ability

Kapil with bat in Tests. He is a far better player than a 31 average batsman.
Could have averaged 37+ with the bat. For his strike rate (81 - which is unimaginably high for the 80s) I still think he achieved his potential. He could have reached closer to 40 but only with a lesser strike rate of around 65. Kapil used to hit too many aerial shots (and often lost his wicket to easy deliveries) and in test cricket this will naturally mean a reduced average. There is a natural trade off between average and strike rate, especially under the bowler friendly rules and conditions of the 80s. Kapil underachieved as a bowler, rather than as a batsman. Kapil did exceptionally well against the strongest teams of his era like WI and Aus, but did not do very well against weaker teams like England, NZ, Sri Lanka etc, which is surely underachievement. Any bowler who made the WI team panic should have been good enough to trouble all teams, but Kapil Dev was an enigma.

Uthappa...just because he never get continuous chances as opener like Rohit sharma Kambli...would have been best batsman after SRT.. Srinath...srinath had better talent than kapil dev.. SRT....india would have won 3-4 world cup given his ability

Srinath bowled faster. He wasn't more talented.

I feels Some How Ab devillersis under Achieved in test match He Should Have Average of 55 in test And Should have strike rate of 60 in test match (Soory to Ab devillrs Fan If you dont like this comments ) .
He is still very young. By the time he hangs up his boots may well be averaging close to Graeme Pollock than Sehwag !!!

He is going through his peak right now. I think it's all downhill for him from now on. I don't see him improving his average now, but it shouldn't go down by much if he doesn't play for too long after his best.

Sail an kola Prashant vaidya...I heard he was faster than Srinath. One more pacer who got 5 wickets in his first test against Pakistan. These guys under performed. even uvraj...knowing his talent never suceed ed in tests.

The reason he doesn't get wickets is because he has a very limited skill-set. All he knows is to bowl short.
he's too nice. He doesn't seem to have the aggression that a fast bowler needs.

Easily and I mean easily....Greg Blewett! Fair dinkum had the talent to have 15+ test tons' date=' instead coasted along doing nothing as per usual.[/quote'] Didn't he absolutely suck against spin

Don't think Kapil would have averaged even 31 if he had tried to bat slowly or differently than his usual style. This is the way he could bat. Take an example of Sehwag, there is no way he could have batted differently and achieved better results.

Irfan pathan, balaji ,when these two first arrived, they were treat to watch both could bowl upto early 140's stretch it upto mid 140's ocassionaly but what was special was that killer swing and reverse irfan with huge in dipper and Bala with ferocious outswinger were a deadly combo on top of that Irfan was a decent bat too, what a waste, same with mishra, another one is Srinath, had pace but lacked killer instinct.
