Then one of the other two could have been wides. For 18.6, an extra run was awarded for the wide. And a six was hit off the extra ball. That is 7 runs total. The other wide (18.1 or 18.4) is disputed IIRC but let's say it was a wrong call. In either case (18.1 or 18.4), an extra run was awarded for the wide. And a single was taken off the extra ball. That is 2 runs extra. 7 runs + 2 runs = 9 runs MI won by 25 runs, not 9 runs. So the 1-2 wides were not game changing errors. Anyway wides are a judgmental call for the umpires and such mistakes occur very often. Let's say in a World Cup final, a team loses by 7 runs. If there was 1 wide called wrongly in that innings and a six was hit off the next ball, you can't blame the umpire for the loss. As for the atrocious LBW decisions, this wasn't the first time such an error occurred. Get DRS in IPL or don't whine about human error. Anyway Dwayne Smith wasn't going to win the match for them. Even if he could have, you can't call it a fixed match just because of such a small issue.

But those are intangible constants that can not be calculated, such as 9 runs less of scoreboard pressure, luck etc. Dwayne Smith is one of the biggest hacks in international cricket right now... He averages 30 in Wankhede. That isn't a spectacular average IMO, over 12 matches (many of which were played for MI, so he didn't face the MI bowling attack at Wankhede much either). http://www.howstat.com/cricket/Statistics/IPL/PlayerGrounds.asp?PlayerID=3157 And current form matters a lot more than past records. For example, Jadeja averages 34 at Eden Gardens. If he got out to a wrong decision at Eden Gardens and CSK loses by 34 runs, you can't say that CSK lost because of the wrong decision. Dwayne Smith's form this IPL has been woeful, to say the least. Average of 23 with an SR of 118.
