That's not true . Rajamouli with this film has set the bar for making high budget film making great commercial success . But for the quality of a film this is not . There were few films in Tamil alone which were of much higher quality in last year or 2 and made for 1/100th of its budget . Its same for Shankar who was the predecessor for Rajamouli and these types of films .
True. This movie has set the bar in this genre, that's what I was trying to say. You must agree that this film had quality, in spite of a weak storyline, other aspects made up for the plot. I agree about Tamil movies, watched Kaaka Muttai and it was brilliant. Could you name some other good low budget movies you were talking about? Generally in Tamil movies I watch only the great Kamal Hasan's movies. Hey Ram, Anbe Sivam, Champak, Kuruthipanal or poonal something, Pappanasam, Indian, Nayakan:hail:, Chachi 420 are my favorite movies of his.....great great actor, some of his movies are the best ever made from India especially Nayakan. I also liked that Raanjhana actor. All your other actors are really mediocre man IMHO. Especially that Rajnikanth and Vijaykanth, how can people be so crazy about them? Shankar made Muqabla(Prabhu Deva, Nagma) and Indian right( loved both those movies :two_thumbs_up:)? What good high budget movies has he made?

Have you guys watched sadma? Kamal hassan is amazing in that movie. Sridevi acted really well too
saw it in tamil, a scene during climax in the movie WALL-E is so much like sadma climax when eva tries to make WALL-E remember her after repairing him, but he doesn't remember her at first... but happy ending in WALL-E tragedy ending in sadma

Great that you enjoyed Kamal Hassan movies - you should check out his works in other South Indian languages, if you haven't already.

I don't think posters in this thread are qualified or even have mettle or numbers to appoint anyone as chosen one. A few feel he is qualified. Their opinion. Nothing that will change things overnight. BTW - Sandeep - and don't take it personally. Someone who puts a signature like you have now and accusing others as fanboyism - umm - just does not sound well. No? Chill:two_thumbs_up:
No worries, wont take it personally :). If anything I've been a bit harsh. Regarding the signature, its a bit dated, probably put that in around 2009 or so, and never bothered updating it. Haven't been that active on ICF so you may not realize that. What I've been trying to say, rather inarticulately, is that I disagree with the overhyping of the person as well as the movie. Neither are the finest thing since sliced bread. And skimming a few posts on the thread, I saw people expressing the counter opinion get shouted down, which is not ideal.

There are doing a comedy take on Bahubali, but the experience for me was similar when watching movie, i.e. the show copied Bahubali which copied every other scene from somewhere making Bahubali more of a comedy film: FHjOlgu7-3A :hysterical:

Thanks for atleast acknowledging that you were harsh - takes guts and I really appreciate it :two_thumbs_up: On second point, I disagree. Right from the OP, there have been many posters that appreciated the movie, some posters that did not like it - fair enough. No one had an issue. We all need to realize that - irresepective of what we post - we ALL have prejudices - North vs South, Even in South - Telugu vs Tamil,. Then we have Muslim vs Hindu, etc. We cannot wish them away. So called 'secular' posters are OK with rape of Jodha but are up in arms against rape of Avanthika ( a fictional character in fictional times) It happens dear friend.. We are far from Utopian society And I disagree that counter opinion is shot down - Rett- the counterest counter opinion is the reason why this thread is the most popular thread in CC. I look forward to your opinion on the movie ( which is what this thread is about ) - Sandeep.

Point people are making here is you are free to feel touchy about bahubali and go after whoever posts against Bahubali' date=' but while doing that, please do not attribute it to person's political view or religion which has nothing to do with this post. Agreed that you are not the only one to attack a poster for his or her political view on an unrelated post, and this seems to be norm for many political posters here( plenty of posters are AAPtard or pakis here), but this is absolutely wrong.[/quote'] Thank you!!! That initial post of mine, wasn't directed at Kalia. Neither does the article ( or for that matter I) mention anything about any religion. It takes a special creed of dumbassery* and bigottedness** to equate an article's view to criticism of Hinduism?? And then he finds the need to drag in my religion and conjures a rather feckless attempt at a very spurious analogy. I'm surprised no one has called him out on that. Understandable, as Kalia seems to have an acute case of cognitive dissonance. Couple that with basic inability to comprehend simple concepts like meanings of the words/phrases "fringe, first, only, question, up in arms" and you have ICF's own don quixote charging at imaginary windmills. Too bad for him he ran into the wrong windmill this time. (*) & (**) made up words , just like kalia's theories, necessary to describe the pathetic levels his thinking can stoop to.

Like Bahu-ali (in his comedy take on Bahubali), may be Kalia can imagine himself climbing the water fall and then fighting "imaginary" enemies (those who don't like Bahubali) :giggle: Hopefully, the video below will inspire him to take on more "enemies": qrwnK-xjePA He already is sporting Bahubali's avatar :two_thumbs_up:

PS while watching the video clip, Kalia is also likely to appreciate the blue butterflies flying off from Tamana's dress. And appreciate the genius of Rajamouli as such VFX are never seen on Indian screen In the movie hall, he would probably have kicked the seat in front out of sheer excitement of watching such butterflies (and that too blue!) and be :omg: at the genius of Rajamouli "Sir" 14424011-Three-blue-butterfly--Stock-Photo-flying.jpg

oh boy. There's a lot in there. But anyway, to paraphrase - I think your equating the avantika "courtship scenes" with "rape of jodha" is a bit odd - that is nowhere near apple to apples. In the jodha movie, the akbar character explicitly proclaims his decision not to touch jodha until she is willing - whereas in Bahubali, its quite the opposite -, our stache'd out superman draws on the girl's body under threat of snake bite - hat-tip on the originality front there, for sure :). We are talking about the movies, not reality; since both are works of fiction. I think, as you yourself said, we all have prejudices, and you are jumping the gun a bit trying to draw a false equivalance and convert this discussion into a hindu vs muslim type of thing, quite unnecessarily, in my opinion. Having said that, I think the uproar over the avantika courtship stuff is a bit OTT as well. I mean, I agree that by modern norms that stuff is stalkerish, and inappropriate breach of boundaries - but its a period movie, lets not get too worked up over it. Sure, we do have an issue with desi movies glorifying stalker type "Ishq" etc, and thats not great, but calm down and dont get the panties all twisted up - its just a movie. Regarding the movie, I ended up watching it last week, out of curiosity regarding the hype. And sorry to disappoint you, but I wasn't overly impressed. Its a nice enough masala action flick - I did not see anything ground-breaking about it. Some of the acting was quite wooden, and the direction as well. Sure, he does a much nicer job with the VFX and battle scenes than BR chopra's Mahabharat, but as someone pointed out, even Shahrukh's superhero Dud had pretty VFX, did not make it a good movie - it still stank. Bahubali doesnt suck, its nice if you are into that type of conan the barbarian/300 stuff, and nice to see an Indian setting for it. But that's about it. I dont see anything in there to go all goo-goo-gaa-gaa about it. Reminds me a bit of the Modi Worshipping that lot of my fellow gujjus indulge in, and surprisingly quite a few non-gujjus as well. And as a disclaimer, having this opinion does not make me a hindu-hating pseudo-secular jhola-wala or anti-southie prejudiced whatever - but you are entitled to your own opinion on that. :)

Kamal is my favorite Indian actor. Some of my closest friends in college are Tamils and they made me watch many Tamil movies with them. Loved Kamal Hasan, before that I didn't know he was so good. Now that I watched Bahubali, will catch up on same highly acclaimed Andhra movies too.

I can see why many people see value in watching Bahubali If you watch 20 Hollywood/Korean/Chinese movies, you would have spent approximately $250+ in total Say you watch Bahubali 3-4 times at current prices, it still saves you $200 or more while getting exposed to the highlights from 20 handpicked movies or so :P Btw, Bahubali is long gone from the cinema in my area (last friday and in a market where people usually prefer original stuff), while Bajranji Bhaijaan is still running. If Bajranji Bhaijaan is gone too next week, it would have run for at least two weeks more .... The Punjabi animation movie "Char Sahibzaade" ran for many weeks iirc .... Now Phantom is running in UAVX
