The scientific benefits of Yoga are well established in studies, will only help the kids in their physical/mental/personality development. There are so many examples of madrassa's in UP, Bihar, Kerala teaching yoga and students greatly benefiting from it. I love freedom of expression BUT behead those who insult my faith. I believe in equal rights BUT I can marry 4 women. I respect women BUT they should cover themselves completely. My God is merciful BUT He has created hell for non believers, no non believer no matter how good can be spared from hell and even a rapist/terrorist from my faith will land in heaven. I am most capable and powerful because I follow the correct faith BUT give me quota in jobs/education. Not saying that all from that community are like that but quite a few are hypocrites.

FFS. we had yoga in school and everybody attended but to be fair most of the class was hindu.its very easy to tailor yoga for school purposes to remove all aspect of religion from it.

This, according to me, is an indirect way of promoting a ‘Hindu rashtra’ by the BJP government. Recently, a Muslim girl won prize for Gita recitation, no Muslim organisation objected to that as it was her decision While the "promoting a Hindu rashtra" bit maybe an over-exaggeration by the MLA, his arguement is logical. He, or the others, aren't against Yoga per se, but against making yoga compulsory. Why not just keep a world Yoga day and have those partake who desire to?? One of the foremost proponents of Yoga/ Power Yoga in Mumbai is a Muslim.Shameem Akhtar. She had conducted a Yoga and breathing camp in Anjuman-E-Islam secondary school.

For e.g. Yoga, Gita, Mahabharata, Ramayan, etc. are also related to the Indian culture much like the languages many of us speak .... For e.g. Learning Ramayan is also about learning about ancient India! So what's next? Protests against Hindi because it is a Hindu language, English because it is a Christian language, etc. and option to be taught in Arabic at all schools because it is the original Muslim language Understand the protests based on it being compulsory but not purely on religious grounds esp. when practices such as Yoga are more like a cultural practise

They (secular folks) would not feel anything as those who are secular not only point out malpractices (or hypocrisy) in other religions but also their own religion .... A Hindu (or a Muslim) can criticize Islam on one issue and Hinduism on another, but such concepts could be alien to you!

A Hindu from one caste could hate a Hindu from another caste too (Hinduism is criticized for its caste system). A Sunni could hate a Shia too. A person from one region could hate a person from another region. An uncle could hate his nephew too. People in India (much like people in other countries) hate others based on religion, region, caste, relations, etc. PS Let's try to understand your concept: Is it that because India is secular, everyone should be loving each other and if they don't things are bad in India and secularism has failed? And because Pak is Islamic, its majority has a right to officially hate others Since in India, people hate each other too based on religion, Ind is as bad as Pak because at the end of the day people hate people of other religions in both countries Since both Islamic states and so-called secular states are equally bad, for Muslims, it is better to be a part of an Islamic country (Pak) than a secular country (Ind). Muslims in an Islamic country could be supported for hating others (and others could get punished for hating Muslims or even retaliating against Muslims) In the secular country, Muslims could be hated and they may not even be able to give back proportionally (an injustice) .... And because of such inequality and injustice (where Muslims could actually be hated too and not just hate others unilaterally) Muslims could possibly face in secular countries, Muslims should automatically chose to be a part of Islamic states .... Pak's separation from Ind is justified, should be celebrated, and replicated! Did I get the concept of Pak correct? :P

Secularism is dependent on laws of a country bro. In fact, India is pro minorities law wise. If it was perfectly secular, it should be bringing in Uniform Civil Code. Educated Muslims in India are doing just as good as educated person from any community. I haven't seen them discriminated....stray incidents aside. Of course, there will be tensions between Hindus and Muslims in some rural parts but so is the case for caste fights (some of the backward castes really do tensions in some states). In fact, Dalits have it worse in India than any other community BY FAR. That's a society and cultural problem (we are slowly working towards solving it).
