JDROrLtc6GM Host: Mumbai born CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria Absolutely heart wrenching. Shocking to see how ill-prepared was Mumbai Police.

Yes , i have seen this documentary . But i have never seen a documentary for the Terrorist act whose 9th anniversary falls on tomorrow's date , 11th July . It is unlikely there will be any commemorative news items on print or TV for the Mumbai Local train serial Bomb blasts of 11 July 2006 . Don't expect the MSM to remember. More people died on 11/7 than on 26/11 but we seem to have completely forgotten that tragedy . Can anybody name the ajmal Kasab's and Lakhvi's of 11/7 ? How many have been sentenced to death for that dreadful Terrorist act ?

I said this day 1. I have no remorse feeling for the 2 IPS officers who died that day. Kelkar is one. Sorry but that is exactly what my feeling is. So when they heard that Terrorists are inside the CST, he with his bellly hanging out like a pregnant whale ran there with a Pistol in his hand. Seriously ? Discipline, Training, Skills and Preparedness is highly questionable. I am all for disbanding of IPS from IAS and making it a completely different stream with graduates from IMA actually taking over the duties. These f-ing Belly Hanging Nincompoops are absolutely good for nothing.

Absolutely...for a top cop that was rather stupid. I fear another attack like that and how ill prepared are the police forces. Also commandoes took forever to come.

Who is Kelkar ? are you referring to Hemant Karkare ? he did not die at CST but during the gunfight at Cama Hospital . And 2 IPS officers ? Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar and Ashok Kamte were 3 ATS officers amongst many other Cops who died that day.

NSG commandos are available in every metro city after the attacks. They can be deployed within minutes.

^ Yes, NSG can quickly take over, no doubt. But early response has to be from local police force. They need to know how to save as many lives possible. They need to know how to hold the terrorist and engage them. How to rescue people, and so many other things. They are paid to protect so they certainly need a good training lot more than "How to grow belly in 1st year of joining"

For effs sake dude, have some perspective. First off, 26/11 was unprecedented, nothing like it had happened before. These were Paki army trained terrorists with kalashnikovs, grenades, electronics & supplies. There was not much initial intelligence available as and when it started that evening. Its easy to mouth off in hindsight, the fact of the matter is the details started coming in the later hours and days and these brave guys were ready to risk it all to make the city safe. Simply put, we as a nation were caught with our pants down! Secondly, this is the Indian police and not some specialized security group, its probably the most overstretched, overstressed & under budgeted body in the country and most of the world. Supreme individuals who stand head and shoulders above the rest and meet/exceed expectations in our society are so despite the system and not because of it.

^ of course. Even I don't want to undermine what they manage to do with whatever is available to them. But our government needs to train few units for rapid response. And general police need to be trained on how to operate as a first response.

Indian police did their best on what they could. Come on black mamaba you think police officers in US dont have bellies ? In India fitness is still not a priority and as Clarke said they work overtime a lot that can lead to lot of bad eating habits. We definitely lack training and the gear. In US police have military grade equipment and they SWAT teams as well. It organized really to handle such kind of scenarios. In India we lack operational management in pretty much every thing.

For those who are saying belly nincompoops, remember it was tukaram omble, who sacrificed his life to catch one a hole fighting him with sticks.

Yes Karkare and in CAMA Hospital. Point is how unprepared they are, how unfit they are, -- totally not in line with what a police officer should be.

They died because of substandard bullet proof jackets. Yes, they were unprepared. But you can't compare them with US police since everyone in USA have guns and they are trained for it.

Breaking News:Mumbai Attacks Launched From Pakistan Soil, Admits Former Pak Investigator

Mumbai Attacks Launched From Pakistan Soil, Admits Former Pak Investigator Former chief of Pakistan's probe agency FIA, Tariq Khosa, has admitted in an article that the 26/11 attack was launched from Pakistani soil. Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani national and 26/11 terrorists were trained in Pak, Mr Khosa has said in the article.
http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/mumbai-attacks-launched-from-pakistan-soil-says-former-pak-investigator-in-article-1203702 Here is the article in Pakistani Newspaper: http://www.dawn.com/news/1198061 From the article:
Pakistan has to deal with the Mumbai mayhem, planned and launched from its soil. This requires facing the truth and admitting mistakes. The entire state security apparatus must ensure that the perpetrators and masterminds of the ghastly terror attacks are brought to justice. The case has lingered on for far too long. Dilatory tactics by the defendants, frequent change of trial judges, and assassination of the case prosecutor as well as retracting from original testimony by some key witnesses have been serious setbacks for the prosecutors. However, cognizance was taken by the Islamabad High Court which directed the trial to be concluded within two months. The following facts are pertinent. First, Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani national, whose place of residence and initial schooling as well as his joining a banned militant organisation was established by the investigators. Second, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were imparted training near Thatta, Sindh and launched by sea from there. The training camp was identified and secured by the investigators. The casings of the explosive devices used in Mumbai were recovered from this training camp and duly matched. Third, the fishing trawler used by the terrorists for hijacking an Indian trawler in which they sailed to Mumbai, was brought back to harbour, then painted and concealed. It was recovered by the investigators and connected to the accused. Fourth, the engine of the dinghy abandoned by the terrorists near Mumbai harbour contained a patent number through which the investigators traced its import from Japan to Lahore and then to a Karachi sports shop from where an LeT-linked militant purchased it along with the dinghy. The money trail was followed and linked to the accused who was arrested. Fifth, the ops room in Karachi, from where the operation was directed, was also identified and secured by the investigators. The communications through Voice over Internet Protocol were unearthed. Sixth, the alleged commander and his deputies were identified and arrested. Seventh, a couple of foreign-based financiers and facilitators were arrested and brought to face trial.

Our State police are ill equipped and illtrained to deal with terrorist attacks. I have never seen a policemean wearing a body armour, holding a decent gun forget about owning a armoured vehicle and trained to use them. The ones which came to Mumbai were top grade commandos with over a year of planning and remained holed up for around 70 hours. Try remaining awake that many hours. Respect everyone who died fighting these terrorist

City police men are seldom swat units anywhere, they are specialized units. We have ours too but they are busy in the jungles fighting the maoists, if GOI one day decides maoists are not citizens then the police units fighting them can be replaced by soldiers and the task would be done in a few weeks, the police can return to their barracks waiting to support any terrorist eventuality anywhere.
