It is the similar situation with the most successful Indian executives....while the CEO of Microsoft or Google might be brilliant indivuiduals, true leaders with great work ethic they are still "employees" and not innovators. please don't go back to Aryabhatta coming up with 0 or Chanakya writing the first thesis on governance and economics or Kamasutra :giggle: The only path breaking companies Indian's have started are no it is not BOSE (which was obviously founded by a guys of Indian origin and being proud of him are equivalent of being proud of Satya or Sunder) but hold your breath the 5 hour Energy drink and Hotmail lol TCS,WIPRO etc etc are just services not products Am I missing anything? Thats a stupefying narrow definition of innovation. So all the Indian engineers and scientists in companies and universities in US are not doing any innovation ? Innovation is defined just by starting companies ? There are plenty of Indian origin scientists who head top departments in top US universities, and R&D divisions in companies. In any case, there are plenty of Indian CEOs in silicon valley, One obvious one from old times is Vinod Khosla...but there are plenty about who you will hear soon enough if you haven't already.

How stupid of you to say that One can draw confidence and inspiration for these examples... that people from similar background/upbringing have reached the top. It says a lot about the culture within these companies... that people from different backgrounds also get equal opportunity to reach top management level. And if we lower our standards a bit and compare with pak. for ex. , its a matter of collective pride as well.

I agree,may be I am just narrowing down my definition of innovation...I am sure there are lot of Indians who hold patents in the field of engineering and science which may not exactly be say " daily consumer products "so I will put my hand up and say I am not aware if Indian education has produced such innovations. To put it broadly in what I was referring to here, is the actual act of having an idea or a vision for an innovative product and actually pursuing the idea and bringing it to life. I am sure if an Indian engineer has lead the development of Windows 10,it is a commendable innovation and it still qualifies as path-breaking but there is an idea and a vision,the bigger picture behind all that....let us just narrow it down to the term concept even though the term doesn't do justice to what I am trying to convey. I am sure India can produce the next Steve Jobs but I am looking for the next Wozniak.
