He did well but Rahane showed he can do better in same conditions and scored 100 and even helped his out of form partner get back into form by scoring quicker and taking pressure off We won that trophy because of dhawan and I do not rate him too and will pick rohit over him in Australia strictly because of their strengths and weakness but it's valid point that rohit in majority of matches is liability at start and he needs to get more singles This does not mean I want him dropped but want him to Improve this part of game ...at least when you score 30 runs in power play have strike rate of 70 and and at 50 runs 80 strike rate and if he gets out its ok if he stays he can win us big time but problem is he can waste 50 balls and still get out without adding much and in this game too if he got out on 50 we would have gotten under par score You probably know better than me that statistically probability of him getting out around 50 is more than him scoring 100 like this ...so should be ignore what he does in majority of games ? Should we ignore majority of ducks afraid I scores just because he can score worlds quickest 100 ? I am not comparing them but just suggesting why some times you have to judge player what he does in majority of matches rather than few freak performances

Rahane has scored hundreds in both series and his 100 in England was crucial he grabbed it with both hands and his away from even in tests was brilliant so I think he will play in Australia and I don't want dhawan to face bowler like Johnson ..it's just unfair :cantstop:

Looked rather reckless in the last few games, especially in the last one where rahane completely failed to get going and was resorting to unnecessarily aggressive strokes. Dhawan has a good horizontal bat game although his temperament is suspect. Anyways I don't have much hopes on any of our top order batsmen. Lol, actually the most assured of all players sown under seems to be Ashwin.

Firstly Swing is an issue with every Indian batsman right from Vijay-Pujara-Kohli-Dhoni, ALso check ROhit's dismissals in S.A or even in Nzl...most of them were due to brain farts and not due to swing....Same in the ODI games as well....Let me know or else I will walk you through each dismissal

In England he was out due to a poor shor to Moeen Ali,In Nzl he played a very good knock in the 1st test on a green pitch and 2nd innings he was accused of the customary brainfart,2nd test 2nd innings he was not out but obviously pitch flattened out by then,dOn't remember the 2nd test 1st innings dismissal(Is that why you concluded he can'r play swing?) In S.A in one of the innings he was out chasing a wide delivery and in one innings due to a brainfart....so that leaves with the infamous Steyn delivery...that was more to do with judging the line of the ball than actual swing. So how do you conclude he is the poorest player of swing. Infact Kohli and I will say it as a total package he is slightly above Rohit at the moment was owned by Anderson constantly,Pujara gets owned by In-Swing,Rahane well has no obvious weakness but I will admit is also hit or miss like Rohit....So how do you come to your conclusion. WI and Eng he did well and ball swings there and yes that nightmare series he got owned in SL and ball was swinging...so you form your judgement based on one series,something that can happen to any batsman?

kulasekara says hi to rohit.. rohit is good player of out n out pace and dont mind short stuff , but he is pretty weak vs swing .. worse than ashwin when facing spin and i dont deny the brain farts which rohit is known for :--D

Rahane is as inconsistent though technique wise, I prefer him over Rohit, but he still averages 30 in ODIs after so many games despite batting in top 4 most times. People talking about ROhit drop in 264 game, Rahane was also dropped earlier by Sanga in that 100 he scored.
