Temujin Khaghan Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 rahane doing well at no.5 and pujara doing bad no.3 so pick rohit at no.3 by kicking out pujara pujara becomes drinks boy rohit does bad, ideally should be kicked and pujara brought back but kohli likes rohit's face so put him at no.5 and send rahane to no.3 rahane cant adjust, rohit does okay now you cant drop a guy doing okay so pick pujara at no.3 and drop rahane rahane becomes drinks boy :finger: so basically rahane loses his spot for no fault of his *its magic*its magic*
BeautifulGame Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Shastri is like Sakuni in Mahabharata then
G_B_ Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 i dont buy this rahane started his career at 3 and has just struck a big century in the last test. This pitch i think apart from che the top 4 did not have a good time.
Detonator Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Guess the team composition for SA will be like, 1. Dhawan 2 and 3. Rahane/Vijay/Rahul/Pujara 4. Kohli 5. Rohit 6. WK 5 bolwers. Ideally they all should be in the test team. But for the sake of Rohit and 5 bowler theory, we might see atleast 2 good batsmen dropped.

I don't think Rahul will be in contention anymore (and I'm not sure if he's all that good anyway), but one of these 3 (Vijay, Chepu, Rahane) will likely be booted.

Apart from Kohli...Rahane and Vijay have been our 2 best batsmen overseas and it would be very difficult to drop them. Dropping Pujara now would be a crime. So, it should be a toss up between Dhawan and Rohit which Rohit will win comfortably under Kohli.

vvvslaxman Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Who do you think can be dropped given that Rohit is only sureshot batman ( sadly ) and there are 4 slots apart from the captain ? He will drop a bowler i think . Panni. You can't drop Pujara, Vijay, Rahane, Dhawan anyone if everyone is fit. Especially openers. THey are rare commodity. Good openers that is.

kosingh Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I am sure he is going to play 5 bowlers. He has repeatedly said that he is going to stick to that. Since Ishant is not playing, I'd be curious to see if he still plays 5 bowlers. Hard to select 5 bowlers excluding Ishant.

If not, and he misses the next test, then Shami ( if fit ), Bhajji ( if spin friendly pitch ) or maybe even Bhuvi will replace Ishant.

Well, this lineup would work: Vijay, Dhawan, Chepu, Rahane, Nohit, 5 bowlers + keeper... that would go on to prove Kohli's eternal love and backing of Nohit :giggle:
