coffee_rules Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 http://www.deccanherald.com/content/508321/state-team-unhappy-mysuru-crowd.htmlPetty reasoning from Karnataka. Don't worry about crowd support and work on improving the game and competing. This is loser's attitude for a defending champion. Nimmajji nanmagandu.!! They are thinking of moving the game out of the city in future. Very bad thinking. After having escaped with a draw against Haryana in their Ranji Trophy match, Karnataka expressed their disappointment over the local crowd’s indifferent response towards the home team.In fact, the defending champions are so disheartened that they have requested the team management to consider shifting the November 7-10 match, scheduled to be held here against Odisha, to Hubballi.Opener Robin Uthappa, whose 194-ball 66 helped the hosts avoid a defeat against Haryana, said the team was disappointed to see the home crowd not backing them and even added that Karnataka never felt any home advantage playing here. “It’s disappointing,” said a dejected Uthappa after Karnataka finished their second innings at 202/8 on Sunday to eke out a hard-fought draw. “You are playing on your home ground and you’re being called names. It’s natural that we expect the crowd to back us completely when playing at home.”The seasoned campaigner pointed out that it was not just a one-off occasion—when the presence of Virender Sehwag in the match forced the crowd to shift loyalties—but that Karnataka have been at the receiving end from the Mysuru crowd for quite a long time.“We expected them to back him (Sehwag) as he is a legend. But it’s one thing to support a player and quite another to turn against your own team. But this is not something new. On the professional front, we have learnt to take it in our stride. But emotionally, we have been let down,” Uthappa said.Recollecting Karnataka’s past performances here, Uthappa felt one of the reasons behind his side’s ordinary record in Mysuru is the lack of support from the fans.“A right kind of energy and encouragement is needed from the supporters and if you look at our show in Mysuru, we have struggled to produce an outright win here. Hubballi is a lot better and we have requested our team management for a change in venue for our next match which is scheduled in Mysuru,” the dashing right-handed batsman said.
vvvslaxman Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 International cricket supercedes domestic cricket. This is not a professional league like NBA . Having said that is there an explanation why they heckle home team? He is not telling something we don't know? I remember Mumbai crowd booing Sachin. Delhi crowd booing Kohli in the IPL, Kolkatta crowd booing our whole team when Gangu was dropped. But at the domestic level this is something new.

But at the domestic level this is something new. They heckled the home team only when Viru was batting, probably because of sentimental reasons. Once he got out they went back to supporting the home team. These morons must stop whining at every instance. In fact it was good to see a healthy, enthusiastic crowd for a Ranji match who had a great time.

There is lot of sledging that happens in Ranji matches. Agarkar had complaied about this in the one Ranji Final (2010?) when Mumbai won against Kar in Mysore by 6 runs. The crowd goes around heckling the players , really abusive crowd. There are couple of Engg colleges in Mysore which gets students from all over the country. Must be some Northies who wanted to cheer Sehwag heckled the local team when they tried to slegdge Sehwag/Haryana team players, and this guy got khunnassed!

Add to the fact that Sehwag just retired from international cricket and the fans were more eager to see him bat than the Karnataka lads.

Debutant Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Can the venue be shifted at the whims of a captain ??
fineleg Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Can the venue be shifted at the whims of a captain ??Yes it can be, becos the Karnataka Cricket Board even shifts the wkeeper from CM Gautam to RU - coz RU wants it.

Don't think these two cases are related.

kosingh Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 The only reason there IS a crowed is because of Sehwag. Debutant, sscomp32, Gollum and 1 other 4
