Rayudu deserves Grade C. He is most of the time warming the bench. Players who are on the fringes or those who are not in the playing XI often or putting in average performances should get grade C.

 

Yeah I am not sure whether he can last in international cricket. Since he scored runs in ODIs, he is given a contract.

These Dhawal and Arvind have done NOTHING to get a contract.

It is really strange how Arvind gets a Grade C  and Rayudu gets a grade B  contract  ? 

What has Arvind done ever ?

Rayudu rarely gets a chance to be in the XI.

Rayudu deserves no contract. He should be nowhere close to Indian team.

Bro he brings awesome Hyderabadi biryani for Dhoni and team and deserves his place just for that :giggle:

Dhawal is world class in one thing though.

He can spray the ball at 120. Never seen that level of talent in any bowler. :adore:

If I remember correctly Dhawal had actually improved his pace and was bowling good outswingers at 135 -140K in challenger series couple of years back. Now he has regressed and gone back to his trundling ways.

Our selectors are idiots n don't pick or groom bowlérs or know when to select, after his injury the Malnourished Chawal Kulkarni is back to his actual pace, he was mostly a M/F bowlers n selectors have no idea Bowler wise at all, give guys like Aniket, Suyal who have potential n not hopeless Umadkunts

As India rolled over South Africa on the first day of the Bengaluru Test, it were the spinners, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who celebrated most times. There were some guileful deliveries, outstanding catches and a few ordinary shots that made up the Proteas’ 214 all-out.
But there was one moment, one ball, one celebration, that stood out. Amid the spinners’ frenzy, there was a fast bowler who produced the highlight of the day.

First the build-up.

Hashim Amla walks in to bat when Faf du Plessis fell; South Africa on 15 for 2 in the eighth over. Amla plays out a maiden over from Ashwin, in a gripping battle of attrition. Then the Proteas captain is up against Varun Aaron. When he thrashes a short and wide delivery to the point fence, no one sees a battle being brewed. But it does. An edge falls short of keeper Saha, one whizzes past the bat, the next is defended solidly, and finally two runs are scampered to through point. The next over featuring Amla and Aaron starts with a single down to point and a bouncer ducked with ease.

Then comes the moment; the 14.6th ball of the innings. Aaron surges in, charged up, lets rip the shiny red ball at 140.4 kph at Amla – pitched full, straight. Timber! Amla’s off-stump uprooted, gone cartwheeling. South Africa – 45 for 3.

 

The ball was worthy of the quality of the batsman it dismissed. It would have made Michael Holding proud. Even Amla’s watertight technique and nimble reflexes came up short. Aaron spread his arms in celebration, his team-mates wrapped him up in embraces. 

Aaron doesn’t talk much. His answers in interviews are understated and short. But this time, as BCCI.TV spoke to him about this wicket, the glimmer in his eyes and the ear-to-ear smile said it all.

“It is the best sight for a fast bowler,” he said. “It felt really good. We needed a breakthrough at that moment and I am glad I could get it for the team. The plans for Amla were simple. We had just spoken about keeping it simple and trying to hit the top of off.”

That plan having worked, Aaron was pumped up. His next ball, to Dean Elgar told the story: a bouncer awkwardly negotiated by the batsman, but not without taking a hit on the helmet. It was as much a ploy from Aaron as it was a fast bowler’s raw instinct.

“Getting that wicket (of Amla) felt good. And in the previous match he (Elgar) wasn’t too comfortable with the bouncer, so I wanted to test him with it. I would have been happier had I got his wicket but nevertheless, it did bother him.”

The talk veers towards the ebbs and flows of Aaron’s career so far. Lower back stress fractures limited his game-time during the initial part of his career. After several comebacks, he finally seems to have attained some sort of continuity as far as playing matches is concerned. He played his first Test in 2011 and then was away for three years. Since August 2014, the Bengaluru Test is Aaron’s eighth. He is glad to be bowling.

“I went into the previous Test after playing a couple of Ranji Trophy matches and hence I was in good rhythm. I carried it into this match,” he said. “Playing matches back to back does help a lot. It has also had a positive impact on my fitness. Once you play matches one after the other, your body adapts better. I am in one such stage right now and my body feels really good.”

What makes Aaron a rarity among Indian fast bowlers is that clocking the 140kph mark is not a special achievement for him. Rather, it is normality. But his strength of speed sometimes gets in the way of accuracy. And Aaron is aware of that.

“I would be happier if I had been giving away lesser number of runs,” he said. “That is one thing I have been working on – the discipline in line and length. It came well in the last match and I am sure I will improve in that regards with every game I play.”

If he achieves that goal, expect Aaron to produce many Amla-like moments in the future.

Among the quick bowlers playing for India now ( Aaron, Umesh, Ishant and Shami ) Aaron has the ability to bowl lethal and sizzling deliveries on almost any pitch. Now that he has started to seam and swing the ball more regularly...if he can improve his accuracy he can be a strike bowler for us in most conditions.

I really want Aaron to improve his accuracy. He is the quick who has most potential IMHO.

Now that he has started to seam and swing the ball more regularly...if he can improve his accuracy he can be a strike bowler for us in most conditions.

I really want Aaron to improve his accuracy. He is the quick who has most potential IMHO.

Yup, We have a good variety of fast bowlers now: Varun, Umesh, Ishant, Shami and Bhuvi. These 5 form the core of fast bowling and provide decent options and variety to captains like Virat Kohli. Varun Aaron is the most relentless and fastest of these five, he takes the pitch out of the equation with few sizzling deliveries, not to forget his brutal bouncers at 145k+

But Aaron has only played just 8 tests spread over 4 years. Too unfair on Aaron to judge his wicket taking ability now. Let him play a few matches on the trot first...

Give some consistent run to Varun Aaron, playing 2 matches a year won't get him into rhythm and he won't get any confidence too. Anyway In ODI and T20, he wont get any chances till Dhoni retires.

 

We support batsmen like Rohit Sharma for 5 years, why not give 1-2 years consistent run to fast bowlers too.

All hail Lord Aaron.:hatsoff:.

He has improved a lot and his action looks just so smooth.Bowling at 140s in these 2 dry pitches is just great.Surprising to see Dhobi not supporting a player from his own state.I just don't get what these bowlers will get of Bharat Arun.It's just mind boggling that BCCI can't hire a proper bowling coach.We need a Lee/Donald training our bowlers.
