adi B Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 T20 captain should be someone else, cant overburden virat.he'll take over dhoni in odis in due time, meanwhile dhoni should give up captaincy asap and just play as a player and work on his hitting at the death express bowling 1

This has nothing to do with ego, but Dhoni's presence is too large to play under someone else's captaincy. When Dhoni retires, he will go as the captain. It has everything to do with his ego but off course blind fans like you wont understand.dhoni could have easily played in the tests solely as a wkt keeper but he didn't like the format anyway and doesn't like playing under any captain ,result was instant retirement
bowl_out Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly played under Dhoni who was 2 years into International cricket... Don't know why there should be ego.. Sanga played under Mahela.. Mahela played under Sanga... Both of them played under Matthews New guy 1

Bigg Brother Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Mark Nicholas had asked Dhoni after india lost sf against asutralia last year about his future and he said that he will decide after t20 wc in india..And he has decided it now..He thinks that His running between the wickets is enough for him to play till 2019. What if he took the decision for the betterment of the team? For people with an agenda against him, everything he does is perceived to have some shady ulterior motive behind it. If he didn't retire from tests, people would harping about how he should retire. Then when he retires, you think he retired because he didn't want to play under another captain. If he wanted to play, but not under another captain, why didn't he just continue as the test captain? The selectors were never going to ask him to step down. If anything, his retirement from tests shows his commitment towards the team. It is beyond me how people can call Dhoni selfish after all he has done for the team. He averages 82 batting at #3 and 60 batting at #4 in ODIs. Despite that, he took the role of being a finisher because that is what India needed. If he was selfish (or rather, not so committed to the team), he could have continued at #3 and racked up 12000 runs with 30 centuries. 7 hours ago, New guy said: Of course there is nothing wrong with his captaincy. Adi_91 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 First of all, it should be a gradual change of guard. At the moment, I want Virat the batsmen badly and don't want captaincy shaptaincy to affect his batting. BCCI should speak to MS and see how long he wants to go and make a plan if possible to slowly let Virat take decisions in a match situation. Overburdening him when he is at the peak of his prowess can backfire. HippoSucks 1
sourab10forever Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Dhoni should continue . At least till the next year or so. Not much LOI cricket to be played. 17 tests and kohli should concentrate on that. Once he masters test captaincy then won't be much problem to captain The LOI team .
diehardpacer Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) The problem with Dhoni is his team selection & resistance to any change. Bumrah & Manish Pandey were lucky to be called for Aus tour due to injury to others. Both in the 50 over WC & this T20 WC,bench strength was simply not good. Negi hasn't played any,Shami hasn't bowled for a year,Bhajji & Yuvi are past stories, Rahane ill suited to T20. If you don't select squad covering all bases, you don't have any right to complain about lack of players. The Zim Tour,Bangla series,SA series should have been used to check all players. But that never happened.Persist with Dhoni & he will keep giving the same blah blah excuses & hardly any new player will get chance. It will be the same story all over again in next WC. Edited April 2, 2016 by diehardpacer
