R Ashwin didn't struggle with the dew in World T20 match against WI

According to this and some other reports circulating in the media, R Ashwin, India's premier off-spinner who had an off day against WI in the semifinals of the T20 WC, didn't actually struggle with dew. He bowled as late as the ninth over.

 

Many cricket experts here tried convincing me that dew was the number 1 and only factor responsible for our loss and that after losing the toss, playing the game was futile. Now, here's our spin bowler (if anybody is affected by dew most, it is the spinners) openly accepting that dew did not play a part in his poor performance at least. Kudos to an honest assessment rather than hiding behind excuses!

MSD was one of the main reasons for our loss. Not saying his time as captain has come but he had an off-day. Worst handling of bowlers I have seen in this years WT20.

He might not have because he only bowled 2 overs but other bowlers did struggle due to the dew. Dhoni didnt bowl him more sighting the dew. Bumrah could not land a single yorker due to the dew.

We don't have to blame dew for Bumrah not landing his yorkers, he just had an off day just like many other bowlers. Nehra still bowled pretty well. And it wasn't looking like the ball was slipping out of Bumrah's hand. Pandya was also bowling his usual back of length line which became very predictable. Nothing seemed to suggest that dew was affecting his bowling either. Ashwin bowled his second and last over in over number 9 and he said that there was absolutely no impact of the dew on his bowling. Dew, even in small amounts, affects spinners much more than the fast bowlers.

I dont know how can you say it was not affecting bowlers. Ashwin's last over was in 9th. We were still doing well till 10th over, WI were 84/2 after 10 but as soon as dew started to fall heavily match slipped out of hand. Dew affected 2nd half of the 2nd innings the most. Ashwin did not bowl in that phase because of the dew. You must be really naive to think dew did not affect bowling or a bowlers accuracy. Dhoni didnt bowl Ashwin later on sighting the dew. Dew can change the course of the game very quickly. There is a reason scores in excess of 200 were chased so consistently at Wankhede, as you cannot land a ball at the place where you want when it is wet. It is a nightmare for any bowler spinner or pacer. Also, ball had become so wet that umpires had to change it in 20th over. By then, match was over.

The truth is our bowlers were enjoying the comforts of bowling on friendlier pitches till that very match and they found wanting on Wankede's pitch, and also playing both Pandya and Jadeja on that wicket proved very costly and rightly so, got kicked out of the tournament. Dew was not the problem.

Dew was one of the problem, will always be a problem for bowlers. Those two no balls were criminal too.

Dew is all over the place, when players were diving in the outfield you could see water break off the grass flying into air in slo-mo replay.

 

But i don't blame bowlers, they did ok, and obviously two no-balls was was gut wrenching.

 

blame solely on batting tactics, on an easy 200+ wicket, and Rahane (Opener) playing till 16th over, 40 runs off 35 balls (SR: 114), 9 wkts in hand, end of 15 overs 127/1 (RR 8.46), you have lost the game there already. 

Credit to Kohli, India got 70 off last 5 overs.

 

Yuvraj last time in finals, and now Rahane. 

 

conservative tactics can only get you that far, but need that extra gear to go all the way
