Anybody else finds this statement disconcerting? The selection of the coach shouldn't be the prerogative of the captain. Its the other way around.

Rahul dravid appointed as member of ICC's cricket committee for 3 years...does this some what suggest that he is not interested in the offer made by BCCI?

I think Dhoni's stakes are down with the BCCI and Virat is the real power now. BTW no way Dravid can be coach as well as the member of ICC's committee. Its a conflict of interest as well as time constraint.

Agree...

But Dravid can make such a good coach....esp during this transition.... He seems to be really good young talent and give them necessary guidance and inspiration

Don't think Sachin and other big names have in-depth information about the up and coming cricketers in India. To gather the info, they must watch most of the domestic matches day in and day out where the quality of cricket is very low in 80% of the games. .  It can be a boring and non-glamourous job.  How many of the big names would be interested ?
