Sushil Kumar- 2 Olympic individual medals...deserves a higher ranking??? But for now I have him 5 in my list 6.L.Paes- Olympic medal winner...multiple doubles grand slam winner 7.Kapil Dev- World Cup winning captain....one of the greatest allrounders to play the game....at one time highest wicket taker in both tests and Odi's and also briefly held the record for highest individual score. 8.Saina Nehwal-Olympic Medal winner and also became world No 1 in her sport. 9.K.D.Jadhav- individual medal in the Olympics...what makes him rank above others was he did it in 1952....if you think our facilities are crap now,can you imagine what it was like then? 10.R.Rathore- silver medal winner Olympics 10.(tied)Vijay Kumar- Silver medal winner Olympics 11.S.Gavaskar- one of the greatest batsman to every play the game. The first batsman to reach 10000 test runs. 12.S.Mirza- Grand slam winner in doubles, world no.1 in doubles, highest career ranking of 27. 13.M.Kom- one if the finest women boxers. Olympic medal winner. 14.V. Singh- the face of indian boxing. Olympic medal winner. 15.K. Malleswari- first woman individual medal winner from India. 16.G.Narang-Olympic medal winner bronze 16.(tied)-Y. Dutt- Olympic medal winner bronze 17.R.Krishnan- highest ranking individual tennis player from India- No.6 18.V.Amritraj- highest rank of 16 but defeated Mcnroe, Borg and has a career lead over Connors in an era when it was dominated by those 3. 19.P.Gopichand- in terms of what they acheived is probably the same in comparison with P.Parukone but as a coach too his contribution cannot be overlooked. Singlehandedly responsible for the rennaisance in Indian badminton. 20.A.Kumble- greatest bowler produced by India 21.M.Bhupati- one of the greatest doubles player of all time and multiple grand slam winner 22.R.Dravid- 2nd greatest batsman from India in the modern era and 3rd overall. 23. P.Padukone- one of India's greatest badminton player. 24.Balbir. Singh- 3 time Olympic gold hockey winner and one of India's finest 25.Uddham Singh- 2 time gold and 1 silver medal in hockey Olympics...considered one of India's finest. 26.G.Sethi- multiple world championship in billiards. 27.D.Pillai- unfortunately not enough medals but considered to be India's 2nd greatest hockey player. 28. M.Singh- the flying Sikh. An inspirational story. Unfortunate to miss out on a medal. 29.P.T.Usha- another inspirational story. randomGuy Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Kohli, Dhoni. Kohli deserves to be higher than Sachin imho. Anup Kr., Rakesh Kr. (Kabaddi). Multiple gold medalists in Asian games. International recognition (while evaluating an athlete) does not matter much for me.
Mariyam Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal & Sania Mirza are sportsmen? Vishwanathan Anand doesn't deserve to be on that list either. Simply because Chess isn't a sport. If you include him , you should include Pankaj Advani too. Where is captain MS Dhoni??? rubbish list.

Just like all "Tendulkar focussed" lists, it gives too high a rating for Tendulkar. Balbir Singh should be in the top 5 with 3 Olympic golds including one as captain and highest goal scorer to date in any Olympic final. Also, tennis rankings are all wrong. Ramanathan Krishnan was our greatest tennis player ever. He was seeded 4 at Wimbledon. He also reached the semis twice of Wimbledon and quarters another 5 times in Grand Slams. He also took India to the finals of the Davis Cup. Detonator 1

Olympics,Grandslams, Other prestigious tournaments in the respective sports like All England Badminton etc. Feel free to disagree, I do not have an algorithm or any statistical measure....this is just my personal opinion.....I am more than willing to change my ranking provided a good reason
