Trichromatic Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Both have failed to perform the samee way they have been doing for last few series. What's going wrong? I know pitch is flat but some somehow Sohail and co have done more damage in this series. tweaker 1

Jimmy really needs a helpful pitch, otherwise he seems innocuous. Is Sohail Khan pacier? That may be why he has done better than Jimmy, but Woakes isn't that fast, and he's been the best bowler of the series. tweaker 1
Asim Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 None of them 'seriously' troubled Pak at any stage...

But still they haven't looked threatening in this series
vayuu1 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 None of them 'seriously' troubled Pak at any stage... That's coz conditions have been far more batting friendly than normal. Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
Asim Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 ^ Agree, all 4 pitches were batting friendly for most of the time during each match...

Really boring pitches throughout the series.
MechEng Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) Can't blame good batting conditions here, we're talking about veterans here with more than 300 and 400 test wickets, Broad was unplayable against us in 2014 when conditions were great for batting. I'd say they are in hibernation mode right now. Edited August 13, 2016 by MechEng
chewy Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Pitches have been mostly batting friendly mainly because Pakistan bowling potent enough to run England batting line-up. Is the same when SA visit. When likes of India and SL visit, green suddenly appears. Lack of quality pace (90mph) bowlers has this effect. Lol
chewy Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Also when pitch is dry and good for batting, the bowling speed of both Anderson and Broad suddenly goes below 130 kph
fineleg Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) R B 4s 6s SR AN Cook* c Iftikhar Ahmed b Wahab Riaz 7 35 1 0 20.00 9.2 87.4 mph, gone this time! That is the massive breakthrough! Wahab's fiery extra pace creates lift and late movement that Amir and Sohail haven't been able to match. Cook fences outside off, drawn into the stroke by force majeure, and that's a very sharp take by Iftikhar at first slip - the ball was almost behind him as he grabbed it 14/1 Pak can beat Eng at their game. They have fiery fast bowlers, skilled bowlers and catching (above instance) seemed to be sharp in slips. Eng scared to give green top against Pak. India has brainless Yadav and slower Bhuvi etc, and unlucky Ishant. Hence we get green tops. Edited August 13, 2016 by fineleg

Not exactly, England gave green tops for the first two tests ,but India adjusted well, they realised their mistake and gave English flat track; our problem was moin Ali ,taking wickets easing pressure from aandu and barbie. Yup ur right, the thing is both virat and pujara hit the rot in the series, only rahane, vijay to some extent did well, pujara hasn't been the same batsman since that series, we did stupidity by selecting Aaron, who should have played odi, yadav should have been selected.
