why doesnt he look ready?  He already played for India A in Aus and did well with both bat and ball.

RKT bhai......again A tours are not a great measure but I will get into that later......Pandya if he plays as a 5th bowler will weaken the batting line up relatively when compared to say someone like say Jayant Yadav who has great technique-This is based on what I have seen of him in international cricket.

Now is he good enough to play as the opening bowler in tests? I mean can he set up the batsman?...most of his wickets seem to come when batsman are either attacking him or on the front foot looking for scoring opportunities...Yes he has that bowling talent but is he ready to bowl long marathon spells keeping up the intensity that has been shown by Ishant,Shami and Yadav?

He absolutely deserves a spot in the A team and selectors can definitely make a call then but at this stage he still looks a bit raw for test cricket.

He will play as 2nd seamer at home and i dont think he will do any worse than Ishant, Yadav, BK while he will strengthen the batting line up more.

Playing Pandya will improve the batting but will surely weaken the bowling. Is he as good as BK with the new ball? Can he bowl with the same accuracy as BK?  Is he as good as Yadav with the old ball? Can he maintain the same intensity and push batsman with pace that Yadav does throughout the match?

Won't know until he plays. He has shown all the attributes in ODIs. He has bowled sharp bouncers and moved the ball from good lengths both ways with good accuracy. BK anyway is ineffective in India unless there is a green pitch like Eden we had against NZ. Actually, Pandya has bowled better than I have ever seen Umesh bowl in ODIs. He is learning very quickly in the bowling department. It is important we play him at home because we will need him overseas as alrounder if we want to play 5th bowler. We dont want a Binny type 5th bowler or 2nd spinner most times. So, it is better we give him a few tests at home before we go overseas. He should be given at least 2 out of 5 tests against Aus and BD.

Pandya's  real test as specialist  test bowler depends on whether he can sustain pace in the 5-day format.  He has bowled in good areas and got consistent seam movement with bounce and also got out-swing when on offer.  Has bowled an excellent sharp bouncer too.  All good qualities to have for test matches.

He has the potential to do well as a test bowler provided he has the stamina to sustain the pace he bowls in ODIs these days.

When it comes to test crirket, i have no doubt about panyda' bowling. He shud only be used as 5th bowler for 12-15 overs . If bowling well on day shud be given.

In test he shud take opp to work on his batting as in Odi at 7 he wnt get many chances. I think odi will impove his bowling and test his batting and that will help vice versa.

He shud be only considered as all rounder not a bowler . We have only one good seaming all rounder and we shud really take care of his workload other than anyone

When stokes played for England in tests his bowling was not good enough ( still not that good ) and his batting was not good enough .

But they picked and played him even though not ready and gave him time . Why did they do that ? Cos seam bowing all rounder is once in a generation thing and adds so much to a team .

do we want to show vision ? Do we want to play him to allow to be that once in a generation player for india even though right now he is probably not worthy of a spot ?

In India, pacers don't have to bowl that many overs in tst matches, as spinners do most of the bowling. In any case, a young pacer can get better only by bowling lots of deliveries. Managing workload is important but sets in after the bowler has developed a bit and not so much at a rookie stage, when he needs to bowl more and more to get everything right.
