Younis Khan:ATG?FTB? or HTB?

Pakistani Batsman Younis Khan is approaching 10k test runs.Now almost every batsman who has 10k Test runs is considered to be ATG level.Is it the same for Younis Khan?

 

His avg outside Asia isnt great and he has struggled in SA/WI and hasnt played much in AUS. He was caught like a deer in headlights in ENgland this year before he made a double in the last test.

 

His fans will point out his avg in Eng and NZ to a say that he doesnt have a weakness againist fast bowling.While his performance in Asia is great.

 

So where does YK stand ? Discuss.

Don't like the term FTB so don't like using it regardless of whichever player it is. Younis has been a terrific player in test. He has saved Pakistan on many occasions and his first inning contribution should also not be forgotten. We focus some times too much about 4th innings, even though (Younis was pretty good in 4th too). He was one of the best in the world at a time regardless of bulk of his runs not coming away.

 

I think the trio of Inzamam-Misbah and Youhana(Yousuf) was tough to get through and I will surely call all three greats of Pakistan cricket. And as for this thread, Younis was one of the best at a time. 

 

Just the fact that he used to put price on his wicket and was very gritty and would not succumb to pressure or give away his wicket easily.

If Zaheer Abbas is a Pak ATG so is YK.

Brilliant player of spin bowling, one of the I've ever seen. Also has a great 4th innings record which shows his temperament to play in tough circumstances. However, always felt he was very dull against seam bowling, be it in Asia or elsewhere. In Asia, it got covered up as he could tire the pace bowlers and attack eventual spin. When he went overseas, he got exposed with relentless pace bowling. All in all, a very very decent player and easily Pakistan's best ever.

He was very good in Asian Conditions hence so no, He isnt HTB. Can not consider him FTB as he has scored some good knocks away from rank turners. Problem is, hasn't scored enough knocks away from home. So he is slightly better than FTB.

 

He is faar faar better than Pakistani ATG Miandad. So yes, If Miandad is ATG, then Younis is defintely a Pakistani ATG

There can be debate about how good he was, but its clear that he's past his sell-by date.   Pakistan' selection policies give WICB a run for its money.

YK is better than Abbas - excelled at the 4th innings run chase.
