narenpande1 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Target to win: 170 Result: India win by 3 wickets.
sandeep Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I'm still holding out hope our batsmen can grind the Pommies into a massive lead - and we end up chasing a dozen or so, or not at all. But realistically, anything over 150 is going to get 'interesting'. And we could very easily end up chasing 250 or so. Vijy 1

India to chase 313, and get out for 100... in case someone didn't notice, the statement is meant to be ironical (refers to Mumbai '06).
narenpande1 Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 My estimates are conservative and pragmatic... we are still 254 runs behind. On this type of wicket one can easily lose 2-3 quick wickets. With all that, I am assuming we will equal Englands score, +/- 30 and be near all our by end of day today or early 4th day. England with its stubborn batting will be able to grind out about 2.5 sessions which is about 75 overs. If we are roughly 30 ahead after 1st innings England, can score another 200 or so in the 3rd innings, leaving us 170 to chase, mostly on the 5th day. i think these are fair estimates... if we bat through the day tomorrow and take a first innings lead of 100 or so. We have this in the bag. but I think England spinners will be more effective than yesterday. will be close, but we will prevail

Nothing in between.
Bystander Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 It is going to be innings victory for us.. we are not going to bat in 2nd innings Yoda-esque 1
Laaloo Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 We will not chase. 550 all out England 123 all out
adi B Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 England will get bundled out under 150 in the second innings,so target should be under 200
kira Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) Hopefully Less than 100, chasing more than 100 on a fifth day Mumbai wicket won't end well for India Edited December 10, 2016 by kira

coffee_rules Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Ind might not chase, were are yet to avoid follow-on. Eng might as well win this handily or even chase a 40 odd runs!
