Any other changes to the playing XI ?

I would try Pant. Is his keeping so mediocre that his explosive batting is being overlooked ?

Heard his keep isn't good, but I don't know if it's mediocre. If Ind wins this Test, would be nice to see a couple of youngsters given a chance.

Shami has soreness in his right knee and has been advised rest and rehabilitation

Hasnt he had enough rest since he contracted this injury or are they just being cautious

Would not mind seeing Pant now. Regardless of how he does in the last game, we have nothing to lose but only gain. And I would actually send him ahead of Ashwin and Nair and see what he can do. I would also stick with Nair for the last game and give him another chance. We need to give them proper chance.

Please not Nair. Jayant looks far better than him. Have jayant at 6, ash at 7, maybe pants at 5.

Jayant's prme job is that of a bowler for now. And Nair is a pure batsman and not a bowler. The day Jayant starts bowling bad, he will be dropped more than likely, so I would rather invest right now in a batsman only like Nair who might be dropped to in future if he does not do well in the next game.

We have to give these players confidence, and Nair needs more time batting with top players like Pujara and Kohli. So the earlier he comes, the better he is going to get spending time with them in the middle.

Nair does not look like a test cricketer based on present evidence. looked poor even against zim.

Needs time man. I am not a huge fan either. I rather see Manish Pandey, but I would not drop someone who got run out in the first game without any of his fault and here got out under pressure for the first time. I would definitely give him another chance before sending him back to Ranji. These guys have worked really hard and scored plenty of runs to be treated like that.

But there are plenty who scored more than Nair - Bawne, Vihari, Iyer (in the last 3 seasons), etc. to name a few.

One match isn't good enough to judge any player. If this was the case, Kohli could never have made to test team after 2011 WI tour disaster he had. Nair will get more chances. He is one of the most successful batsman in domestic cricket and can be all format player for us.

That is now, Nair was picked earlier, and since he is already in the line up and the others can't make it, I will stick with this guy for now.

Similar is the situation of Manish Pandey. There were many players who have done better than him in First Class, it is his ODI stint with India which has given confidence to our team management that he can be groomed for Indian test team now for the future. He scored runs and now has found his way to the squad. Soon he will make it to the 11.

Please not Parthiv .His keeping is hopeless .

It's a great chance to develop a young keeper with the series scored .Wasting it on Parthiv will be criminal

It has been horrible - fumbles everything, even collecting throws.

This is the REASON selections to Indian squad have to be done carefully. Because once selected, we have to keep giving "reasonable number of chances" before judging, to be fair to the player.

Once Rahane and Rohit return, Nair will return to where he belongs, i.e. Ranjis (of course, I also wish Rohit goes back there).

Nair will still be there in reserves. If you remember Rahane's first test at Delhi. And Kohli and Rahane were already international players, still they struggled initially in tests.
