Nice little video.  Clearly Ash is enjoying the mentor role with Jayant.  Credit to them both for that.  

 

JY has shown a very useful temperament and potential in these 3 games.  If he can keep improving as nicely as he can talk, he will be an excellent contributor for Team India.

How wonderful would it have been for India if JY was a seamer or at least a leg spinner.

He can be a good no 6 batsman who can be termed as allrounder with good technique & temparament & also bowl decent offspin

I'm always thinking of how to win abroad. India will win at home with the current resources.

 

If JY was a pace or leg spin all rounder, I'd give better balance and better options for the team when it's playing abroad. JY will not add great value as an off spinner in away matches, with Ash already being there who is a similar and much better bowler.

Wow.. 2 very eloquent and thinking allrounders in our side! The last bit where Ashwin says 'I found a brother with whom I can talk cricket to in the team' sums it up. I can completely understand where Ashwin is coming from.. Jayant has surprised me with his batting and now with his talking.. this guy is soon going to be our #6. You read it here first.

As I said a wonderful addition as the supporting cast to what will soon be a team filled with match winners...that is not demeaning in any way.

 

Will not win games single handedly or decimate attacks with the bat but boy will he be there to put the final nail in the coffin

I expected some Pant-gasmers to seize that statement as an indicator that he's referring to Rishabh Panth.  :D

 

But overall, he's nailed it regarding allrounders, Pandya, team balance, etc.

Do you realize that you would have said something similar if you'd seen Rahul Dravid bat in his first few innings?  Ribbit Ribbit.

There was no ICF then.....need to dust out my old notes to check what my call on his talent was....must have been a good call

It was funny when the little boy was running up to them for autographs and the cameraman had to tell him to wait a little. Hope he got to meet his heroes after :)
