Did Saqlain really invent the Doosra?

I also remember reading articles that Prasanna actually bowled doosra in his last years in domestic cricket .He didn't use it in International cricket because he didn't master it .

Saqlain definitely didn't invent doosra but probably popularized it most

Even Andy Roberts claimed that West Indies knew the art of reverse swing before Pakistan. But we cannot be sure of this either.

Depends when they started making bottled coke in Pakistan!! Those caps sure come in handy.

Well TBH a guy from rural pakistan( I assume most Pakistani cricketers bar 1 or 2are from rural areas anyways) stealing the technique from a west indies bowler from the 50s seems a bit far fetched.

if he had stolen from a coach or a lower rung domestic bowler than that would have made more sense.

One guy name "Chothe", a helper in my friends house and my friend Bunty, both used to spin like that back in 1995 when we played on the roof of my friend Bunty's  house. Chothe actually taught Bunty how to bowl Doosra. We used to play ikka-dukka cricket on his roof.

Later after teaching that, Chothe ran away from the house, stealing Bunty's bicycle and some of his mom's jewlery.

Maybe both Ramdin and Saqlain came up with the doosra individually and possibly Saqlain being unaware of doosra already being used by Indian and Windies first class cricketers before.

It reminds me of a case where 10 different scientists come up with the same observation but the one who patents it first will get recognition and possibly the Nobel prize.
