Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 In the last match, english captain Eoin Morgan blamed the incorrect dismissal of Joe Root as the reason for their loss.Anyone who has watched Root play in T20s will tell you he is a liablity and unlikely to score freely.Today also he has most likely cost England the match. May be the Irishman should have tried to find a better reason to save his English captaincy. velu and sandeep 2
Sachinism Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Tour ended at the right time for England. I think they've gone through every excuse in the book this tour. Malcolm Merlyn, Vilander, tweaker and 2 others 5
King Tendulkar Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 And on this tour England won 8 of 11 tosses but excuses keep coming from them mancalledsting, express bowling, sandeep and 1 other 4

Every commentator, including english ones have said that Root doesnt have the big shots.

I feel to an extent he binds the team together .Today , after he got out the whole team collapsed like a pack of cards .

I don't think that is a big deal as most people make it. He may become a liability when expected run rates on a wicket are 10+, but he's played brilliant innings when the team has been required to do that. Him as a batsman is good enough to play on most days, for most teams

King Tendulkar Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Someone like Root just exposes how amazing and once in a life time player Kohli is. Root is world class, top notch. But cant do the chase, cant program what to do in given sitiations, panics , gets bogged down. Kohli meanwhile is a computer, with ice in his veins, different level mentally SUMO, _ramkumar, TheWall and 1 other 4
Lord Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Root is good in T20 too.Just wasnt his day See this http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-world-twenty20-2016/engine/match/951339.html

BeautifulGame Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 if only stats could tell everything. Misbah ul Haq avgs 45 plus in tests, more than Ganguly,Aravinda,Anwar,Gooch etc he isnt even half the batsman.Same goes for Uae Khan. Younis Khan is a better test batsman than all of them mentioned . Perhaps except Gooch who was an opener and hard to compare.

UAE khan has a better avg than Viv Richards Lara Dravid Ponting Gavaskar etc he isnt even quarter the batsman.
BeautifulGame Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 UAE khan has a better avg than Viv Richards Lara Dravid Ponting Gavaskar etc he isnt even quarter the batsman. And he isn't a better batsman than them. But comfortably greater batsman than the likes of Ganguly or De Silva in test cricket.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 And he isn't a better batsman than them. But comfortably greater batsman than the likes of Ganguly or De Silva in test cricket. That was for Misbah.
coffee_rules Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Agree, Root is the root of all their evils in LOIs. He is limited in LOIs in Indian conditions or when it is time to force a play. May be a ODI specialist..definitely not a t20 expert like Raina.
