Ramnath Kovind has been elected the 14th President of India by crossing the winning margin – 7,02,044 votes (65.65%). He is the first President from the Bharatiya Janata Party and only the second person from the Dalit community to become President

There was something new and surprising witnessed in Parliament’s Central Hall after Ram Nath Kovind took oath as the 14th President of India. The Central Hall of Parliament echoed with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogans immediately after Ram Nath Kovind took oath as the new President of India,

Newly elected President Ram Nath Kovind today said the key to India's success was its diversity and emphasised the need to enhance opportunities for the underprivileged to help mould an egalitarian society.

 

In his first address at the central hall of Parliament after taking oath as the 14th president of India, Kovind, 71, advocated the need to build an India that was "an economic leader as well as a moral exemplar".
