4 day test matches

Seems to be big push by some for this .

Personally hate the idea . So many games would be draws if no 5 day

but arguments are commercial reasons and less work load for players . They say up over rates and it can work . Can they up over rates ?

may happen as ipl leagues taking over. Need tests taking up pace space and shorter games also more viable commercially and cost less to host

The number of matches ending within 4 days has definitely increased from 10-12 years back.

But if you look at this game, now if it was 4 days it would be a boring draw but with 5 days we are actually looking at exciting last 2 days.

The number of drawn games has gone down so drastically its not even a comparison with even 8-10 years back. And that's good for the game commercially, otherwise potentially exciting nail biters will turn into boring run fests.

Mr Graves seems to be the most vocal supporter of this. I used to respect him a lot when he was at Yorkshire but as a Yorkshireman I'm dismayed at what he's doing, seemingly throwing away precious cricketing traditions in pursuit of money. T20 franchises, the ever decreasing relevance of the county game, and now devaluing Test cricket.

If the first day is washed out, as is likely in the UK or NZ, what would be the point of playing the last three days?

It seems the reason England pushing this because to get space for their newly launching T20 tournament in 2020.

Maybe will be viable in England .Not practical about subcontinent with the heat.

Forcing bowling to bowl 110+ a day could lead to more injuries and more players quitting test cricket. Will be counter productive.Btter off looking at day night tests if the objective is to increase interest in tests .

Well teams would declare quicker trying to push for wins, but I still don't like the idea. The current test format is great for people who enjoy tests. And somehow I don't see significant increases in test viewership if we moved to 4 day formats. People who dont watch now will not start magically watching

There should be no change from the 5-day format

Results in a high % of tests is what is making them interesting nowadays

That would reduce if we have 4-day tests

Many tests finishing in 4 days is not a good reason to support 4-day tests

If the players know from the start that there are only 4 days, then they would not capitulate under pressure in the 4th innings.

Don't change something which is not broken.

4-days is still long enough for the dedicated T20 crowd and it would not pull them to that format.

No to 3 days or 4 days!!!cricket needs to get rid of pattas like current wicket which will always produced a Boring draw when major cricketing nations are locking horns

Low scoring encounters are the most entertaining ones

Moronic idea imo. Will affect Asian teams the maximum who depend on pitch deteriorating on day 5. Will reduce the role of spinners and also break the backs of quicks. Also impossible to implement in winters in India( test cricket season) where there is sunlight for only for 10 hours. And what if there is rain/bad light on one of the days? Can we get a proper match with only 3 days of cricket? So many classics finish on the 5th day, we will be missing out of many great test matches.
