Nice tonking by batsmen in Vivo IPL 2018 - Minimum 22 runs overs

Here are some overs where batsmen have taken the bowlers to cleaners with some exceptional hitting. Having 22 runs scored off an over as criteria to be categorized as tonked.

 

 

 

 

 

Wonderful to see the talent being showcased by batsman as well as presence of mind. Some batsman are waiting on the back foot and as soon as fast bouncer is bowled they are just using the pace to guide it over third man for six. Sanju Samson has shown exceptional timing against spinners as well.

 

Chris Gayle has been ruthless tonking the spinners and pacers for huge sixers.He just likes to thrash the bowlers by scoring 50's and 100's, doesn't he. Someone said it was his 12th T20 ton.Amazing batsman. Ripped off Deepak Chahars bowling.That was sensational batting.More sensational was him tonking the T20 specialist Rashid Khan.Liked that effort more than hitting the inexperienced bowler.

 

Rahul has been sensational, just caressed the ball into the gaps with nice touch and timing.At times he has used the tonks as well.Shocking why he isnt in all playing 11's in shorter formats.

 

Hope we get to see some more talented batsman who can rip off the bowlers in a matter of one over. Need some quality batsmen for shorter formats.

I took 22 as minimum criteria otherwise there will be lots of overs in almost every match.  19 is not really a massacre in IPL. Many bowlers have gone for that. 22 looks a good filter, doesn't it? We will end up with enough tonking even with 22 as criteria.

 

Have opened separate thread for 45+ runs conceded in IPL match to accommodate consistent tonking by batsman.

At the end of this thread we will find few batsmen who are worth being picked for the T20i or ODI. Lets see which batters feature more in this list.

 

So far, Sanju and Rahul are staking claims in playing 11. Yes, Rahul is already in team but he is not regularly given a chance in playing 11. This IPL is the stage for batters to show they cant be ignored.Hope there are more finds this IPL.

+ Shreyas Iyer makes the first entry of this season into this listing. What a superb exhibition of run scoring that was. Scored 28 runs of the last over by Shivam Mavi.  Was nice to see that innings and acceleration in the final overs.

That would be too much time consuming as there will be lot of bowlers who will fall in this criteria. Here maximum runs scored in one over is being considered, there is another thread for that.

Apart from Rashid khan who was hit by Gayle storm which can destroy pretty much anything, all other bowlers are Indians. That is why many batsman who are struggle to hit decent Strike rate in Internationals make merry in IPL. There are always buffet Indian bowlers to feast on in every match.

Most of international Bowlers are Quality bowlers which are presently representing their teams , The Indians that are tonked are either who wants to enter team or which were part of Indian team

Batsmen are no more afraid of pace and bounce with touches and upper cuts or hooks, but they wish bowlers ball at higher speeds and score runs off such bowlers. Every batsman apart from Raina and couple of others want pace on their bat.
