mancalledsting
absolutely agree- I was never impressed by Starc in tests. Wasn't sure how the whole world rated him so highly- I even started to doubt my own judgement as I could never see what was special about him. Now that he's lost his ball tampering buddies- expect his performance to decline even further. He's a good ODI bowler though- that is obvious. He picked wickets of lower order and late in innings with reverse. Most of the hard yard is done by Cummins and Hazlewood these days. Yet in other threads you will see people mentioning his name first before any other bowler - Starc will eat him alive, Starc this and Starc that. It seems he gets extra attention only because of pace and ODI exploits while he continues to bowl mediocre spells consistently. Rightarmfast and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1 Link to comment
rkt.india
Most left armers are overrated in tests. They depend too much in inswing to right handers and when they don't get that they struggle. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
rtmohanlal
he definitely is... i thing there are 2 reasons for over hyping him .First is he came immediately once after the great Mcgrath retired. And Mcgrath was one of the prominent factors in making that AUSSIE team the GOAT team 'along with WI of 80s'. And soon Starc with almost the same 'built' emerged and a lot of people assumed that he would be as great as Mcgrath by default because of the earlier said factors. And he immediately proved to be a huge success in ODIs and it continues to be so. Thus this hype was formed that he would be a great test bowler as well. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Global.Baba
He is a good support bowler at best. More like a Wagner type enforcer. I know it is blasphemy to compare him with Ishant but in his own way a good third wheel than a spearhead. That’s a fact. Aussies have 2 of those in Cummins and Starc. Starc is marginally better at this stage. Link to comment

Dont get me wrong but the way i see it, if batsmen really want to be cautious and carefull, they may employ there defences and see off best Bowler, but then end up loosing to second best. However best pacers simply clean sweep the tail in no time as despite their best efgort to see off, they cant hold onto their defences. Hence for pace bowler, to be really effective, it requires more than one to be in team so that they can attack in tandem Edited December 9, 2018 by mishra Link to comment
