over-react much?

Ashwin gets injured after bowling 4 overs, Saffers blast 15 runs an over in the last few and we lose by 5.  Kohli and Raina do f-all in the chase before getting out and a clearly less than 100% fit Dhoni takes us within 1 shot of winning the game.

Dhoni is absolutely fine and arguably irreplacable in ODIs.  Enough with the wrist-slitting and emotional demonization.

Kohli batted badly and Raina did what he always does, look for some quick runs, which were badly needed at that time. Sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn't. Dhoni did jackshit in this game and instead put pressure on Rohit with his piss poor slow batting. Huffing and puffing to 30 odd runs when he needed to hit 4's and 6's. If Dhoni was not 100% fit then he should sat his ass out and instead given chance some other player.

he is easily replaceable by anybody who can clear the inner circle without coughing up a lung. It's time for him to go. At best he can accumulate runs in the middle order but captaincy should be given to one of rohit/kohli

If you feel Dhoni is absolutely fine you have been under a rock for the last 2 years. Not only is he unable to hit in most matches (he has taken many matches un-necessarily close which we lost), his man management and tactics suck. But most of all you can see the intent of the team under both Dhoni and Kohli. This is nothing to do with one match. You are one clearly trolling here with no facts to back up. None of the commentators, or any BCCI boot licker even feel Dhoni is irreplaceable.

Good, we are getting somewhere.  So you agree with Raina's approach inspite of it being unsuccessful - no arguments there.  Didn't Dhoni do the same thing?  He attempted the chase with his approach, and fell short by 1 boundary.  If the last ball of the 49th over wasn't brilliantly stopped at point, it would have been only 8 in the last over, and we probably come away with the win.

Should Dhoni go for big shots with guns blazing a la Hack-Freedi, to please the peanut gallery or apply his own methods which have resulted in more ODI success than any other Indian batsman, ever?

Don't mix T20 and ODI cricket, they are 2 different formats.  Dhoni is clearly a borderline selection for T20s, not so for ODIs.  And he didn't do that much wrong here.

Raina big hitting  > Dhoni now. Dhoni's last over chases used to work when he was at his prime and could pull off those amazing big hits. But recently this approach has cost us a couple of matches and will continue to cost us till Dhoni is there. Its high time he retires...

Not denying that Dhoni is not what he used to be.  And he's definitely not what fans want him to be -the thumper he used to be in the early part of his career.  But in ODI cricket, you don't necessarily need to score at 140 SR to be an asset at #5 - different story in T20, but definitely not in ODI.  He still adds value to the team as a player especially at the pressure-absorbing #6.  Its not like he tuk-tuked a 30-ball 20 here, he was one shot away from winning the game!

Regarding Captaincy, thats a different discussion - and I'm not sure on that one.

Bro He is the best captain for India. Every player has ups and downs but I think he should lead team IND until 2019 WC. :hatsoff:

Dhoni Pakistanis and Sri Lankans have started supporting you. Please retire
