Hope ICC does not drag this till 14th Feb by trying to make Pakistan reconsider their decision. If they want to take official route, ideally ICC should ask Pakistan about the reason why they are boycotting, then asking them to give their final stance before WC starts. Pakistan will definitely try to milk this thing till 15th Feb

IMO fault lies with BCCI and ICC for this. Since this issue has started, BCB has been daily releasing media briefings showcasing them as the victim. PCB has also been using their media to show that Bangladesh are being victimized but there has been complete silence from both BCCI and ICC. Third party will assume that BCCI and ICC is guilty that is why they are silent. Right from the start ICC and BCCI should have taken a stand and released official statements through media that such request this close to tournament will not be entertained due to logistic issues and in addition to that we have done independent security audit and it shows that India is safe. Even right now ICC should release statement that we have told Uganda to be on standby if in case Pakistan decides to withdraw from competition. We have already moved Pakistan matches to Sri Lanka and even after that PCB wants to play this card then we have the replacement ready.

PCB will make sure that this issue drags till week before tournament starts. Govt to decide whether Pakistan will play T20 World Cup 2026: Mohsin Naqvi https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/reports-govt-to-decide-whether-pakistan-will-play-t20-world-cup-2026-mohsin-naqvi/ Ideally ICC should ask Pakistan that whether they will be playing WC or not, if they are boycotting then they can setup replacement team. If they are boycotting at that last moment then there will be heavy fines that they should incur.

As per BCB, "There will be no loss for the Bangladesh Cricket Board [if we don't take part in the World Cup] as the loss will be for the players," Nazmul said. "Up to 2027, our revenue will not be hampered because in the 2022 ICC financial meeting, this was already fixed. Future World Cups or future bilateral or international events may have relevance, for example whether teams will come to us under the FTP. Those are valid questions. But this World Cup does not affect that," Zimbabwe also pulled out of 2009 T20 WC but received its full participation fee for the tournament. I think if in case ICC agrees to BCB demand of moving their matches to Sri Lanka then I guess some of Australia, Oman, Ireland matches (except SL match) will be moving to India. These 3 are only teams apart from SL and Pakistan which does not have any group stage matches in India. Logistically it would be tough and this should be BCCI's stance that we can not make changes to schedule this late. Also going forward, as PCB, BCB are against BCCI. BCCI should try to make/maintain good relations with AFG, SL, Zimbabwe and Ireland cricket boards by having some A tours so they can generate some revenue. As they are full members, their vote will be important in getting anything done in ICC.

For me the missing ingredient seems to be in fielding/catching. Our ground fielding seems to be deteriorating and last year catching was bad. Even the young guns do not look like athletic guys in field. Previously we used to have guys like Raina, Jadeja, Kohli( at least in ground fielding) who were considered best in the world in fielding but nowadays no one from young group is in the discussion of best fielder. Another missing ingredient is our main bowlers in white ball cricket are complete dud with bats. If we play Kuldeep, Varun, Bumrah and Arshdeep together in T20 then batting ends at 7. They might get single or double but we can not even rely on these to hit a 6 or 4 in death overs. They need to work on their power hitting so that at least they can hit some lofty hits in death overs.

Have this on loop after watching Dhurandhar

If and when Gambhir is fired, do we have any replacements lined up? I think BCCI favors Indian coach so foreigners are not in running, but from India who is next in line? Laxman and Nehra had declined in the past as per news reports. I do not think Ravi Shastri or Rahul Dravid is coming back. Hrishikesh Kanitkar is coach of India A so he might be next in line. Another candidate is Sunil Joshi who went with India Emerging Team in Asia cup and based on that sample size he did not impress at all.

One of the lesson that we can learn from NZ and SA side who whitewashed us is that they prepared really well for India series. NZ toured SL just before they toured us and SA toured Pakistan. Usually when we go to NZ or SA for test series, our team usually lands few days before 1st test match and we are always undercooked/underprepared in 1st match. After this humiliation, I hope and expect that they take next NZ and SA away series more seriously.

BCCI introduced fast bowling contract in 2024 (Mayank Yadav, Akash Deep, Vyashak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, Vidwath Kaverappa.) Does anyone has idea what was the plan for these folks?

Travis Head's innings taught me a lesson today
zaqw222222 replied to MechEng's topic in Cricket Talk
I also liked that Travis did not start throwing his bat in the first over, he waited for 13-14 deliveries and then started taking chances. Its some thing that I want Jaiswal to replicate during 4th innings chases, at least give yourself some time in second innings and then start taking chances. -
T Dilip set to return as India fielding coach, handed one-year extension
zaqw222222 replied to Gollum's topic in Cricket Talk
He should not have been brought back. We dropped loads of catches in Aus series and CT, we dropped catches in England series (resulted in us losing 1st test) and now once again we are dropping catches in Asia Cup. Either his catching drills are not good or players not taking the catching practice drills seriously. -
These matches are happening at BCCI Centre of Excellence and they have served these highways. At least center of excellence should have good pitches

Rohit Sharma to continue as Test captain for England series
zaqw222222 replied to Gollum's topic in Cricket Talk
After CT win, this was bound to happen and also with Bumrah not being a certainty to last the complete test series will always dent his chances of becoming a full time test captain. It seems like once again bowlers will be changed for Eng series whereas there will be no changes in batting department. -
India will not travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
zaqw222222 replied to Austin 3:!6's topic in Cricket Talk
https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/champions-trophy-2025-hybrid-model-for-all-icc-events-in-india-or-pakistan-till-2027-the-answer-to-impasse-1463572 "A likely breakthrough has emerged in the impasse over the 2025 Champions Trophy: the ICC and the PCB are believed to have reached an in-principle agreement to adopt the hybrid model for global tournaments being hosted in Pakistan or India until 2027. Such an arrangement would allow the two to play their games at ICC tournaments being hosted by the other at a neutral venue."
