MOCKERY OF CRICKET to keep on playing with lead > 600 runs and no attempt made to force a result. It shows poor regard for the spectators who turned up . THey need to find a better formulae like Duckworth Lewis or give much greater weightage for wickets taken to ensure domestic matches are result oriented.

They should restore ODI's to what it was earlier ..one new ball only and initial 15 overs power play . At the most, there is a case for 4 innings of 25 overs each which will test the strsategic thinking of each team and reduce dependence on toss. . This proposal of playing odis just during 18 months prior to world cups is bonkers. If players have not been playing it for 2.5 years, how come they will magically learn to build innings in ODIs during that 1.5 years ? It may be better to reduce ODI window to around 2 months in a year where no test, T20 or official leagues are played and have regional continental trophies played during that window.

Usman Khawaja retires and speaks about racism
Soorma Bhopali replied to goose's topic in Cricket Talk
Compared to Virat Kohli , a generational talent , ending his test avg. at 46 , I think he did the best as per his limited talent. In my view, Virat underachieved in test areana compared to talent he had at his disposal . -
Apart from Top1,2 & 3 ; batting order is an outdated concept in T20Is. EVERY BALL IS AN EVENT AND BATTERS MUST COME WITH THE MINDSET OF PLAYING THE BALL ON MERIT AND HAVE GOOD SHOT-SELECTION . Only drawback of our team is POOR CATCHING & too much dependence on Abhishek & Hardik to get to winnable totals .

I will play both Varun and Kuldeep . In subcontinent, HAVING BOTH THE WRIST SPINNERS IS A MUST especially in SL . Shivam has a weakness against express pace and I would play one of either Shivam or Rinku dependending on batting form . Batting till 7 is sufficient for a T20I match in subcontinent . Abhishek Sharma can roll his hand in bowling if one of the bowlers has an off-day. PS : SKY NEEDS TO REGAIN HIS BATTING FORM in NZ SERIES .

ICC on a sticky wicket as JioStar seeks to exit deal
Soorma Bhopali replied to Suhaan's topic in Cricket Talk
World cup used to be 4- year cycle. The double whammy of "Skill-based App" ban /Gambling app ban, increased ICC tournaments almost every year and failed Star+Zee partnership for these rights means this was bound to happen . Jiostar is also culpable. of not doing their due diligence and bidding aggressively to get the ICC rights. ICC will be lucky to get even $2 billion compared to $3 billion they got as Jiocinema and Star merger and Sony have almost a duopoly on cricket rights. Zee is in financial distress and expected to stay out of the bidding. Only Netflix , Facebook and Amazon may have some financial muscle to make bidding interesting if they enter. -
INCORRECT. He was underbowled and got 16 wickets in 6 tests at just 29 bowwling avg along with handy batting down the order including the hundread against a strong England side with Alastair Cook et al in 2016-2017 series. He was unlucky to have a parallel career along with Ashwin. He is nearing 36 and still has 2-3 years of cricket left. JALAJ or HIM should be given opportunity in the home series.

Why are the likes of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi not here ? It's so disappointing to lose these talents.

Ganguly 's dad was CAB Secretary in early 1980s. His elder Brother Snehashish Ganguly also played Ranji and I saw him play 1989 Ranji finals .Being CAB Secretary , cricket politics and fights were par for the course. In fact, Dada's early career sufferred being part of an illustrious cricket family as lot of the press believed his 1992 Australia tour selection was due to his dad 's influence and zonal selection .He got to debut in tests 4 years later due to this perception.

Gavaskar's name is already associated with India-australia Border-Gavaskar trophy. -
He may be next Virat Kohli.

It was 1-3 and not 1-4 .

We need to take a bold new direction and make Shreyas Iyer the captain. In my view, he is the only one fit to captain both Test & ODI teams .

To be frank , the decision that family can accompany the cricketers only for 2 weeks have led to these accelerated retirements. Rohit already had fitness issues and would have anyway led to this call. However, Virat has just lost that hunger to fight for his place and standing in test cricket for past 2 years. Both of them did not show the drive to play domestic or ,say, county cricket and now that australia series was lost and reports tumbled out of the entourage and almost 150 kg luggage ; this was on the cards. I was very surprised that Virat skipped all 5 home tests against England last year. Both Rohit and Virat have been great servants of Indian cricket . It's now time to begin on a fresh plate and in the interim, we can get Cheteshwar Pujara back along with Karun Nair to bring some experience in this lineup.

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal 2. KL Rahul 3. Sai Sudarshan 4. Shubman Gill (C) 5. Shreyas Iyer/ Sarfraz Khan /Cheteshwar Pujara 6. Rishabh Pant ( V/c & W/K) 7.Nitish Kumar Reddy 8. Ravindra Jadeja / Washington Sundar 9.Mohammed Shami 10.Jasprit Bumrah 11. Mohammed Siraj/Prasidh Krishna 12. Akashdeep 13. Rajat Patidar 14.Shardul Thakur 15.Karun Nair should be our squad for England Test series. I would have expected Virat to still conquer his weaknesses and fight for his place for one last dance in England series and complete 10K Test runs. However, his priorities with relocation to London seems like mentally he had given up and did not have the hunger for the challenges like England and Australia test series. Indian cricket is facing an Australian cricket in early 1980s scenarios where they had three greats - Lillee, Greg Chappell and Rod Marsh retire in 1983 and now , pretty much we will not see Kohli, Ashwin and Rohit in whites together almost at the same time.
