Gollum Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Steve Smith has 3 100s this series. Entire Indian team with Kohli, Pujara, Rahane, Rahul, Vijay, Saha, Ashwin, Nair, Jadeja combined have only two. This after 3.5 test matches. Has this ever happened in a match not involving Bangladesh, Zimbabwe? Has this ever happened to any team at home? Don't forget Smith's 100 in Pune> either of India's innings there. Unreal domination by Smith. If Australia go on to win this match and series, it may very well be the greatest performance in any test series in the entire history of the game. Certainly by a visiting batsman in India. The way things are going even SRT, Viv, Sobers, Lara aren't safe. Smith is well on his way to establish himself as the greatest test batsman after WW-2.

Damien Martyn got 2 hundreds and a 97 in the 2004 series in India. India had just one hundred in the series (Sehwag's 155 at Chennai) Records / Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 2004/05 The Outsider 1
Ultimate_Game Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Smith has India's number pure and simple. We have no frigging clue how to dismiss him. Just hope we manage to dismiss him cheaply in the 2nd innings via some miracle else the match and series will be gone.

sandeep Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Smith has been a class apart this series. Amazing run production and consistency for a very "risky" looking technique. Singlehandedly dragged the Australian team into competing this series. Sure Marsh and Handscomb saved Ranchi on D5, but even that was powered by his 178 in I1. Take Smith out, and it was 4-0 with India hardly breaking a sweat. Gollum 1
coffee_rules Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 What an amazing unorthodox (aka ugly) bat. If not playing against India, will always feel like rooting for his char. He can only be dismissed by making faces at him, like Ishant.
diga Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 while damien martyn was grace personified.. what a lovely batsman to watch when in full flow
