It's a battle which India is not likely to win. This is a sad event but we have to accept the fact that nothing is bigger than the game and we should respect the decision that has been taken by all the other boards.

Cricket won't survive in India without the help of other boards. U need friend to win wars, its quite SAD to see that at the moment India has no friends. It's not surprising though. Thuggery and extortion doesn't win u friends.

We can take care of ourselves. We are not minnows.

The point I was trying to make is that an India tour is financially of far less significance to the ECB and CA than it is to the other 7 boards.

It is still their biggest tour.So its not less significant.Only comparatively though.

CA will make a loss of 68mn AUD this year.

I'm Talking about India my dear friend Malcom. It really saddens me to see my board in such a deep $h!t. Hope we realize the the importance of friendship and give equal importance  to every other board.

Indians can decide for themselves.Dont need minnows to tell us.

Outside of the Ashes, there is no other bilateral tour that either board can put together that even comes close to the Indian tour.   And if the IPL starts locking down the top cricket players across the world, do you think that won't have any impact on the 2 boards in question?  Already Cricket Australia (and 5 other countries) have essentially refused to play international cricket in April and May.    Don't think ECB hasn't tried to stop that train - it did and failed spectacularly - to the extent that now it has relented and allowed its players to participate in the IPL.

ECB has poked a stick at a sleeping giant.  They may have won a few rounds here and gotten away with a few things, but the BCCI was in a satisfied slumber as far as actively competing for the Annual cricket calendar.  The ECB has just given a massive incentive to the BCCI to deploy its financal muscle, get its act together and start staking its ground on the calendar.   It may take a while, but a billion dollar market is pretty much an irresistible force and an immovable object.   Ultimately, a couple of hundred million dollars of revenue are chump change in the larger scheme of things.   The future of cricket is all about the annual calendar.

Now the BCCI has very little incentive to play nice with other boards.  It can and will, prioritze the growth of its own league, without being overly considerate of the other boards' needs.

In 2017, South Africa's marquee player told his home board that he has decided to 'rest' his body while his country plays an international Test and LOI series at home.   Expect that to happen a lot more.  If the BCCI really deploys its full moolah muscle, it can easily and consistently pull the biggest and brightest stars of cricket into its IPL orbit.  All the other boards will have to settle for leftovers - whether they depend on the Indian tour for their finances or not.

I actually don't want this outcome - I really like that Cricket is not like football, and we regularly have a bunch of international games and series outside of the World Cup.  But the ICC's actions have really started the death march for that world.

Don't waste your time with this faker.  Tell him to go sniff greenbro's bahinds - after they just spit on the toyger board for refusing to play in bomb-explosion-land.

Their country owns its existence to Indians. Now they come and tell us how to do things.

Not really true though is it. The start of the English international summer has always infringed of the latter end of the IPL and will continue to do so next year. The only difference this year is that the champions trophy is being held in England so it makes no sense playing a test series in May just before it.

How is it not true?  Kevin Pietersen was labelled a traitor for wanting to play in the IPL.   Only in the last year or so has the ECB changed its tune and relented, allowing some of its players to get their piece of the IPL $$$.

And while the ECB can force their players to show up for the "start of the English summer", they can't force the best South Africans, Australians, or Kiwis to do so.

What a rubbish post. Everyone here knows that I'm an Indian. But that's not the topic under discussion here.

So, Control ur childish outburst and Stop jumping around like a child. Focus on the actual problem and start praying for Manohar's mercy because he is the only one who can get India/bcci out of this hole because BCCI at present is getting f... ed from all side. Manohar at one side and SC on the other side.  To make matters even worse now all the other boards have also joined to the party.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

If getting 400 million while every other country gets about 100 is "getting it from all sides", that just shows your inner toyger stupidity and resentment.

KP wasn't labelled a traitor for wanting to play in the IPL, he was labelled a traitor for wanting to play in the IPL over test cricket for England.

The first tour of the summer has typically always been the weaker team so it's not been an issue. The kiwis had the first tour just a couple of summer's back.

Yeah the kiwis toured a couple of summers back, good luck getting them to do so again.  :)

bolded part is exactly how i feel. its such a travesty in their greed ECB and CA killed test cricket in rest of the world.

Holistically 2 things can happen.

1. India Leaves ICC for next cycle and goes on to form a parallel cricket league say called World Cricket Council with Head office in India. Within a year or two Bangladesh, Srilanka,Zimbos,Windies,Ireland,Afghanistan  and African will join it. ECB and CA will loose a lot of players and with new revenue model we can have players from ECB and CA join various domestic leagues. IMO, This will completely dismantle ICC and Dubai office will be done forever. They will end up opening office somewhere in Lahore to sustain.

ECB and CA bosses are not Chewtiyas and they will jump the ship or come with some understanding where by they can continue Ashes but play India. ICC will be helpless to say no to either CA or ECB to make such arrangements.

2. It may pull out of ICC. Negotiations happen. ICC accepts that BCCI's share of right. So instead of full complete cycle thing, the member meet again and vote to welcome BCCI to ICC with more powers within the Council.

I would rather want case 1 as then we can chuck out Pakistanis for good from Cricket world but most likely we will have case 2

status quo will be maintained. I dont think India will put out ( too many pacifists like Guha in there) and i dont think pak will be relegated in any sense. ECB/CA will continue to hold more power than BCCI for the time being, as the tours program is stacked against India, the IPL window is the most crucial thing it will generate the slow increase of BCCI power.

Pretty silly to use the revenue from a year to judge how financially beneficial a single tour is in that period, for starters Australia hosted in the world cup in the 2014/15 year which won't do much harm to the annual revenue!

Despite that though that wasn't my point. What I said was the ECB and CA aren't financially reliant on Indian tours as other smaller boards perhaps may be (or tours from the big 3 members in general).

Financially the ICC wouldn't have been majorly affected by Indias exit, like I said it would have been the (Indian) broadcaster who took the major brunt of it. Yes, the broadcasters after that realisation would have of course been very keen to keep India in at all costs in the future and it's in the ICCs interest to make the deal as likely to be as financially successful as possible to the broadcaster so they'll pay up. Not sure what that's got do with what I said though.

1, ECB/CA are substantially dependent on Indian tours, from the financials available in public domain. you can still play your big bash and ashes but evenyone will take a pay cut basically.

2, ICC would be impacted because their revenue will drop by 70%.

3, Indian broadcasters will pull out of sponsoring icc events if India is not there, so they wont be impacted.

pretty simple. if India cedes cricket as it is played today ends.

A simple financial year comparison is in fact the best way to assess how England fares vis-a-vis India when it comes to CA's revenue. Given that that india play only 4 tests against the 5 in Ashes, only a fool would still argue how important Indian tours are to keep the gravy train running for both CA and ECB. In plain words, you remove Indian tour from CA and ECB schedule, and their entire cricketing edifice would collapse. Simple as that.

Of course, ICC didn't suffer in 2007 as the payments were already made, but that is hardly the point. The point is that India's premature departure threatened ICC enough to move into action. Compare this with the routine shaming England experience at World Cups and nobody bothers. Is it making sense to you now?

Broadcasters have become smarter since then. They have inserted India specic clause thats why IIRC some one from the Broadcasting team has said it will cut down the payment by 70% atleast

The 2nd point was a reply in relation to India getting knocked out of a world cup early and not leaving the ICC.

There's still room to be dubious over the 70% figure, after all it was a value put out by the BCCI, ECB and CA when the size of that value would only help justify the notable increase in revenue the 3 got. Would be far more credible if it was directly from the ICC or even better an independent auditor given there's quite clearly a large conflict of interest in where the value came from.

actually there is possibility of it being more 80% as some sources are stating you are right.  Basically ECB and CA are not really big in the big 3, since big 3 is out we will soon have a big 1.

Like how that sounds :isalute:
