beetle
I would not believe this but for kohli's lukewarm credit to Kumble to the answer on the team's achievement . Also the mention that these victories are at home. One of the article mentioned that the players believe a coach was not even required for such home series. Link to comment
beetle
How about getting Pravin Amre as batting coach. He is very well respected amongst star players. Our batting is no longer that strong. A batting coach would be helpful. Get zak as bowling coach . Let Bangar stay as general coach and manager of practice sessions . Change Sridhar. Link to comment

diga
I think we can manage without Kumble the coach & Kohli the captain... but we need Kohli the player Ultimate_Game 1 Link to comment
mishra
In a crux, I see Kohli's team selection as one like Manchester United's Jose Mourinho, who will rather rely on experienced tried tested players which gets job done i.e winning trophy. But I also see Sir Alex Ferfgusson in Jumbo, who will make and certainly make a change and infuse new talent as in when he seems it right. He will get best out of playing 11 and win the trophy. To take side is difficult as both will get job done but I will side along Sir Alex Fergusson Edited May 31, 2017 by mishra GoldenSun 1 Link to comment
Lannister
Selective leaks on Anil Kumble diabolic Quote A year as head coach of the Indian team and a string of success stories later, it seemed as if an extension of Anil Kumble's one-year contract was a mere formality. That, until the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) called for fresh applications for the post at the behest of the Committee of Administrators. Kumble, it said, would be an automatic entry. Small consolation, for reports suggest that BCCI members - most of whom hold 'acting' posts - are unhappy with Kumble's proposals on pay structures for players and the support staff to the CoA. Conveniently forgotten is the fact that Kumble didn't volunteer this exercise; the CoA had specifically asked him to put a plan together. Kumble's presentation was made behind closed doors but it didn't take long for BCCI officials to selectively leak contents of his proposals. They then stretched the imagination by suggesting the coach and captain Virat Kohli were not on the same page. All this, unmindful of the fact that the Indian team would begin its defence of the Champions Trophy in less than a week's time. What has been lost in all the insinuation and innuendo is that Kumble's presentation was only a proposal. It is the board's prerogative to cast them in stone. The proposal will be weighed by the CoA too, but one would imagine that eventually a consensus would emerge between the board and the panel of four administrators. Kumble is known for his ability to analyse and break down complex issues. These faculties were evident in his vision for Indian cricket submitted at his interview last year as well as the latest proposal which put the demands on the players and coaches in perspective. There are very few men in Indian cricket who have successfully worn as many hats - player, mentor, entrepreneur, commentator, administrator and coach - as Kumble. It is fair to say that his proposals have been drawn from this wealth of experience. The selective leaks therefore come across as diabolic. For example, Kumble has proposed that he be present at selection committee meetings. Now, board officials say a 'place' among the selectors comes at a price tag of Rs 60 lakh. However, unlike the case of Australian coach Darren Lehmann or his English counterpart Trevor Bayliss, who both have a say in player selection, Kumble apparently hasn't asked for a seat on the selection panel. All the former India captain has sought is for the head coach to be present at the meeting - which is also attended by the captain - so that he is in the loop on the merits and demerits of the players discussed. The BCCI could easily have avoided this unnecessary brouhaha by making a case before the CoA to continue with Kumble. It could have emphasised the point that the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, which is tasked with the process of picking the coach, had recommended a three-year contract for Kumble last year itself. The BCCI's call for fresh applications could well be a dead-in-the-water move. For, who would realistically fancy his chances and enter the race, knowing Kumble is among the contenders with a history of success? 10 http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/94879/selective-leaks-on-anil-kumble-diabolic-india-cricket-team-bcci-virat-kohli Link to comment
beetle
I can understand the Bcci being pissed by Kumble. When they were fighting a battle with ICC with their hands cuffed by the jokers in the COA....kumble went behind their back and discussed the issue of participation in CT with Coa. Why the hell would he do that? He is employed by the bcci.He should have discussed it with bcci. Who leaked the news that the team wanted to go ? I am sure bcci would not do that to make its own position weaker. Did he not know that bcci was trying the boycott as a leverage? Everyone knew ...even we knew. So why would he do that. It is like back stabbing or at least working against the cricket body that he is employed by and accountable to. Besides , he is the coach...why get into politics between bcci and COA. Yeah all that "Players want to play in CT" thing was weird. If someone had asked Kumble the question he should've simply stated that it's not for him to decide and is BCCI's prerogative. beetle 1 Link to comment

BeautifulGame
Former Australian pacer Craig McDermott has applied for Indian team coach job That would be a great choice. If not as Head coach atleast as bowling coach. Aussie bowling attack improved leaps and bounds when he was their bowling coach. Could be ideal for us. StriKe and beetle 2 Link to comment

Its obvious that Indians dont understand "conflict of interest" ... VVS is a mentor of SRH and also in the panel selecting the next coach. Link to comment
