Is world odi cricket at its most competitive ever?

I mean Srilanka beat us today even though we were the favorites similarly Pakistan beat South Africa the other day....even though they both can be termed technically as upsets you could envision a scenario like that to happen.

Tommorow if Bangladesh beats Newzealand even though it would be an upset,it wouldn't be the most shocking result ever.

in the Aus vs England game you cannot confidently pick a winner like it used to be in a 90s odi game between Aus and Eng...infact England are the marginal favorite there.

Even the team that didn't qualify Westindies can upset any of the top 8 teams on their day as they have done recently in the Aus Sa tri series or when they beat Pak once in a while etc.

This doesn't really mean that world cricket qualitatively is at its pinnacle but more or less looks like the strengths and weaknesses of each team are complimenting each other perfectly to create this scenario where we just for sure say which team will win a 100%.

In a way this is good if you are watching it as a neutral and also gives you butterflies as a fan of a country when your team plays pretty much anyone.

Only in Odis though...tests the gulf between the best and the mediocre is pretty wide and T20 is always a lottery

Lightning can strike twice, but not thrice.

This has been a freakish two days. I don't think we can say that this is the world order today.

Yes but India will win 9 out 10 times if we chase which is true for most teams now. So if you loose toss you might loose the game

Quality of pitch has gone down in England, Looks like flat roads were created for this tourney so every team could score 300+.

On helpful pitch Starc will run through England lineup but we will see another 300+ total.

These two new balls and which doesn't swing in cloudy UK weather sucks.

In this ct with top 8 teams in odis . Anyone can beat anyone if they have a good day .

Shame indian fans don't get this and go in to panic and despair mode after one loss . Frankly in odis it's always been such upsets can happen .

Personally Not panicking as the end of the world about Indian cricket team because we are still a cut above quiet a few teams but what me and some others have been pointing for a while are some players are like deadwood and outdated and there needs to be some refreshing changes.

most of our losers are due to this reason so there is justifiable whining.

After WT20 loss to NZ same reactions.

Don't feel so. SL would be good once their proper bowlers get back into team. Bangladesh has improved. But consistency in being competitive is required rather than occasional upsets.
