and the problem until we try new bowlers, answer will always be yes. They tried Aniket Chaudhary in warmup against BD, he picked a 4-fer and never and is then forgotten. we are in dire need of a left armer and Aniket is good. he is 6'4" tall, swings the ball at good pace but they are so reluctant to play new pacers at home. when Shami got injured, they got back Umesh who struggled in the previous game. Instead should have picked either Bumrah or some other newcomer like Chaudhary or Saini.

See you don't just try new players for the sake of trying, who is Aniket going to replace. If he is forgotten it is his fault, now a days especially for fast bowler if he has pace and is accurate there are so many avenues.

Bumrah should have been tried against SL that I told during the series too. but I don't agree that you just give  a test cap to guy like Aniket .

why? Aniket is an experienced FC cricketer and was called for bowling in the nets to practice for Starc before Aus test series. He is not as quick as Starc but as tall and whatever i saw of him, he has been good.  He is the kind of left arm pacer we need overseas. you build a fast bowling pool for overseas and not at home. We need guys who can succeed overseas. Indian fast bowlers who have success at home wont succeed overseas because recipe for success are different at home and overseas. Indian fast bowlers who succeed overseas wont succeed at home.  Until we differentiate this, we will not get consistent success overseas.

Why is a left-arm pacer a necessity to win overseas? The best bowlers should be selected for the conditions, regardless of whether they are left, right or ambidextrous. The Oz attack of the 90s-00s and WI attack of 70s-80s did not have any world-class left-arm pace bowlers.

it is not a necessity but if you have a good left armer on domestic why not try him.

most others are inexperienced or yet to make debut.  difficult to play so many rookies. we only have these 4-5 bowlers playing tests in last 4-5 years. we could have even given Aniket Chaudhary a go in a test or two.

May be he did not impress when he bowled in the nets.

He also did not impress kohli in ipl.

Being called for nets can be double edged.

he did impress Kohli that is why he picked him for IPL. He was not a T20 bowler anyway. had not played many T20s and one days even in domestic.

Hazelwood , Starc and Cummins are all 6'5'

nope

Hazelwood is 6'5 starc is shorter than him and Cummins is shorter than both atleast an inch between each.

Amoung the Indian ones Aniket looks pretty tall must be easy 6'4

if starc is 6'5 Ishant is 6'10 lol.

may be weak 6'4 just pushing 6'3 and a bit..Ishant clearly has atleast 2-3 inches on starc and Ishant is legit 6'5 and a bit more( max 6'6 not more). but the point is they are not super tall guys and many local Indian bowlers are pushing that height , i know Aniket is tall, not too sure about others. So one of these lads who can hit mid 140's and is super accurate can do as good a job basically.

Rajpoot is 6'3". Dhruv pratap Singh rookie from UP is similar. Ishan Porel is around 6'3-4

Vidarbha's leading crawling toward 200. Wish they had Lalit Yadav. With him in the side, they could have given a better challenge to Karnataka batsmen.

Quote

Vidarbha have already lost their strike bowler Lalit Yadav due to a hamstring injury. They have Rajneesh Gurbani, who has played just 8 matches, and Siddhesh Neral, who made his First-Class debut this season and has played only three matches.
