If u are not master of using the real weapon. U can keep running on three legs for whole life but can't surpass Sachin.

Kohli already did in few matches he played.. He left him way behind :p:Dhawan has better average and SR than sachin. He prob was great back in 90s but he is nothing in mordern cricket but a tuk tuk master

I am all for raising the bar for fitness so that unfit cricketers don't make it to the team.  But there needs to be some study around how relevant this yo yo test is to cricket skills.

Also, what about general catching ability? How come fitness that would help general ground fielding is given so much importance but taking catches, which is probably even more important than running hard to stop a boundary or running a quick single is not given any importance at all. The captain himself drops catches by the dozen. He might be a topper in fitness levels but he is also the worst catcher in the team. How come being a poor catcher doesn't incur any minus points?

True...they should be made to go through a ' pakdo pakdo ' test too.

Virat, kedar and that guy Nair:wall: should be made to pass that .

How can a  youngster who has done so well in a recent match fail a fitness test? What exactly is this yo yo test and how does it test the fitness required from a cricketer ?

Cricketers don't require the same kind of fitness that other sportsperson do.

Spinners fo not require the same kind of fitness that pacers do.

Same goes for bowlers and batsmen.

Does yo yo test cater to the specific fitness required for the specific job?

good questions. If a cricketer cant pass a routine physical test at 18 then he needs to really put in work in the gym upping his Cardio capability or he wont make it when he is older either.
