Topic doesn't include only pontential player - Kohli. None of other batsman have that chance atm.

Virat has already scored in SA , the only thing he can do better is score in a Test win . 

 

Puajra has an opportunity to fix his overall overseas record , since his record at home is good , some high quality knocks . So after Virat has the biggest opportunity . 

 

VJ needs few big 500 run series , his overall avg is two low to be considered as ATG . 

Rahane's if he has few good away series , can only maintain his reputation 

KL will play only few matches .

 

if I have to make a prediction , it would be Virat . 

 

Rohit and Dhawan are ATG's already , they have nothing left to prove so am not counting them .

Vijay can seal his place as our 2nd greatest opener if he does well again. Kohli is not an ATG in tests as of date, he will get there eventually but it is too early to proclaim him as ATG. Guy has done zilch on difficult tracks, be it India or overseas.

Do you seriously rate Kohli the test batter above Vijay? I can understand about Pujara because he flopped in the previous batch of overseas assignments. But come on you can't be serious, don't be a slave to mundane statistics, else Miandad will come out looking better than King Viv !!!!

He has crossed average of 50 first time in his career.
