a lot of it is down to kohli's merrymaking in Oz. and the eqn is very diff for an opener vs #4. On tough pitches overseas, I'd rate Rahane and vijay higher than kohli.

Well Kohli did much better than Vijay even in NZ and SA, didn't he? So it's not just Australia. On tough pitches, I wouldn't disagree that much, but those would constitute less than 20% of the games overseas.

true. let's hope kohli's form on flatter pitches continues. but I won't be counting on him much in that 20-30% of matches with tough conditions.

dsr - its kinda crazy to say VK is a ATG test batsman already. He is not, so wake up.

Yes! I mean he keeps having a go at Smith but thinks Kohli is an ATG already when he averages nearly 10 points less :cantstop:.

Indian ATGs are apparently judged at different standards than Oz ATGs. I seem to recall threads in ICF stating that SRT > Bradman, Sir Aggy > Akram, etc.

Well the Agarkar > Akram thread was meant to be a joke. I wish I could say the same about the SRT > Bradman threads!

Thanks for clarifying . As we were not sure your views on Sachin . Would i guess you don’t rate Sachin ?:phehe:

He was just ok player who played for himself..Would Have been Close to Good if he played for the Team.. But to sum it up overrated

Can we not side track this thread in talking about how good kohli and Sachin is . Let’s talk about thread title and players in poll

Pujara.

Gujju boy is hopefully going to get his due once he drops a few typically Pujara-esque daddy hundreds on tour.

If he doesn't find a way to score off the pacers, he runs the risk of getting bogged down and falling to a good ball at some point.

Sure, this is a known issue.  But I expect him to overcome it a handful of times at least.   The other issue is that we have usually lost wickets far too quickly at the other end for Pujara to cash in.   He needs someone to stay with him for a long period, i.e. get a couple of partnerships going.

Big issue with pujara is very low hands so extra bounce can get him

plus gets bogged down

but in many overseas tests I thought looked good if slightly bogged down . Then suddenly got out . I feel will do ok this time

with klr and vijay, at least one of them would possibly succeed. however, chepu will serve as opener effectively if dhawan is chosen
