The topic is about tests  and yet I am seeing some people trying to somehow squeeze that world cup knock out into it.

Sachin played 6 world cups and his teams failed to reach knockouts in 3 of them. Kohli has played two world cups give it some time, he is so far superior odi batsman than Sachin ever was it is not even a discussion.

In tests till now it was close but now Kohli is showing why he is best again.

Champions trophy is a 50 overs format. Virat scored in finals unlike sachin who is master of choking

So it was Kohli who scored a 50 at age 18 against Pak for the first time in a WC, or at 22 in QF vs SL, a 50 in 2003 WC semi, 2 fifties in QF, SF 2011. Yup that was all Kohli, and all WC finals were played over 40 overs.

Not sure why are you bringing age in discussion. Thread is about who's better not about who did it earlier.

No need to play 100 tests. He has already surpassed him as mentioned in thread title.

Even if he retires now, he will be hailed as 2nd greatest batsman in test behind Bradman and greatest in ODIs.

No need to be sarcastic. If he keeps this up for couple of years , he will reach there. He is already the best limited overs batsman in history, now this will just bring him closer to Bradman

Well you for one said he's never played such innings, when in fact that's totally fabricated. Unless now we're counting 30 odd in WC finals as the definitive innings ever, or a 33 in 20 over CT final? Aside from the fact that QF, SF innings don't count - in which case Kohli is spared since he has nothing to show for in these games.

So Ailiaa scored 50 in his first WC.. Hmm Kohli has a 100 in his first WC. Rest of them doesn't even make sense because you kept talking about age.

Let me repeat...ICC Champions trophy is ODI format reduced due to rain on that day. Virat was the highest scorer in that Finals. He is a big game player unlike sachin who choked when it matters in finals. Is that clear ?

It's not Virat's fault sachin was never good in T20Is. He could never make it!

Fact is he never played such innings in finals. Virat scored 43 by the way, which was the highest score out of 129 India scored. 33 was the highest score from English side.

There is a big difference scoring 30s when the team score is 260+ and 43 when the whole team score is 129. Virat is a match winner unlike sachin who played for himself.

really happy to see Kohli becoming more and more of a complete batsman. His paltry 13 avg: in ENG has crossed 30+ as of now. Hope he crosses 35 or even 40 by the time this series is over.

It's 36 already... If he wins MOM here he ll have more MOMs than sachin ever did in his last 20 years in England.

Also we shouldn't forget sachin played on Flat tracks back in those days has 0 MOM in his last 20 years.

Neither did Virat, he scored 35 in the WC. Yeah that was a typo (33) also made by Jadeja which were just as crucial.

You saying things won't make them a fact.

Virat scored 43 out of 129 in Finals - Fact

Eoin scored 33 for England which was their highest - Fact

Those are the 2 facts that I listed.

He had almost 100 run partnership with Gambhir when Sachin choked as usual on night of finals. That 35 runs on night of finals from youngster is much better than any 100s scored by sachin against minnows.

In your world, meanwhile in the real world without SRT's 50 odd or 87 in the QF and SF, there would be no finals to plat at Wankhede. Yeah Aus and Pak are minnows, what was Kohli's score in 2015 SF against Aus or BD in QF btw?

Says who ? He played really slow. If any other batsmen had that many balls to play that day. They would have easily score more.

Did sachin play in CT2013 ? We won it without him

2014 Finals

2016 SF

2017 Finals

We are doing well without him.
