Forever Indian
whatever the case, you wont expect, Kohli, Gayle, AB to get less than the retained amount. Gayle, Kohli, and AB both deserved to be first retainer getting 15 crore. Gayle was unlucky that no team bid for him earlier. Even one team had bit for him, his price would been sky rocketed as others too would have started bidding. Sometimes, teams do not team on purpose, in fear of price getting high on certain players. And no, retained players cannot be paid more than what is they are retained for. Manish Pandey and Jadeja were banned for a year each while they were trying to make similar type of deal with franchisees. i am still not very much sure about how much retaine players will receive.. i am certain that retianed player can get less than the retained amount deducted . it might be possible that players can be paid more than that as well Regardless of retention rules, the point is RCB did not even bid for Gayle at base price of 2 Cr. and he went unsold for 2 times. Second time, RCB had already exhausted their purse.
Forever Indian
what would RCB's bidding would have served? Second time, RCB had already exhausted their purse. If they had planned on buying Gayle in auction, they would have planned accordingly. They did not want him in first place, that's why did not go for him at base price even in first round. May be his megalomania was getting on the other big shots nerves. May be he was stepping on the toes of others. They are in any way not going to win.. So why carry the weight of a drama queen around. He has'nt done much in the last year for rcb. Edited April 30, 2018 by beetle Forever Indian

Panda3231
With the kind of form Gayle is playing right now, I am sure RCB is missing him the most.
Zelig
For those saying he keeps on whining...what do you expect him to say when the reporter asks him about it? “Your last season with RCB went south. But with 485 runs in the BPL and 376 in the CPL, were you surprised when RCB did not show interest in retaining you? After all, you were one of their biggest draws...” Under_Score
