What are Dinesh Karthik's Test numbers like?

Average 27.77 but had a great series opening the batting in England 2007. Was our top scorer in a team which featured Dravid, SRT, Laxman, Dada, Dhoni. Moreover he didn't cost us matches singlehandedly with his glovework.

How did Parthiv do with the bat in England?  Let's compare their England performances head to head - even though Parthiv played as an 18 year old, while Karthik toured as a specialist bat.

Parthiv has his flaws.  They are well-known.  But to call him the worst ever to wear India cap is sheer hyperbole.  If he is the worst, what does that make the likes of Debang Gandhi or Noel David.

Single most reason why India couldn't win a series in Australia...he tried best to lose the Adelaide test in that series too missing dolly chance for Gilchrist but miraculously India won that test....I can only think of Ajay Sharma (late 80s) the fixer to be probably worst than Parthiv in terms of any cricketer that has represented India.

Not even close, the worst keeper i have see play test cricket for India is Deepdas gupta. He however could bat thus he did play a bit for india.

Scored 200 in South Africa in warmup match and played the rare good innings in test. His partnership with Sanjay Bangar was good in one test.

When everyone including King Kohli and the great ABDV could not show up past single digits, Parthiv Patel stood up and had given RCB a respectable score.

@Gollum, this is the value that Parthiv Patel can add. With adequate support, he is a good test kind of batsman. If only if he was not that bad with his keeping....

One swallow does not a summer maketh.

PP has been given enough chances to shine as a batsman, he flunked badly. Add to that his non-existent WK skills, he is a failed investment, also cost us a series win in Aus and RSA each

This thread is biggest insult to the legend of  manish pandey.  He is and will remain the worst ever.:two_thumbs_up:

You guys make good points but PP has cost us more than others. And because of him others (bowlers) suffer.

Pappu is not the only one who sucks. The two Sharmas suck. My thumb rule is if anyone has the last name Sharma, they shouldn't be selected. venky Prasad was not only a crap bowler, he also served as a bowling coach and what I believe made Ishant worse than what he actually was. There are several lalloos who played in the past. It could be a long list.

PS - Venky performed well against Pak and had a lot of 5 wicket hauls against them. That speaks more (or less) of Pak batting :phehe: than Venkys bowling

Prasad ended with a bowling average of 35 in tests and 32 in ODIs , in comparison Zaheer who most people rate as one of the best we have produced averaged 33 and 30 .

Tbh I don’t think DKs keeping is any better than Parthivs . Just that he dint get enough opportunities to cost us matches . Even the last match for KKR saw him drop a easy one . Has regular lapse in concentration for a keeper

DK was a brilliant wk when he first arrived, better keeper that batsman but once he started playing as a bat alone, his keeping went down.

He is born in the wrong country, I guess. If he was born in South Africa, he would have been a GOAT because he is a Green Track Bully.

He is equally bad everywhere, don't let his cute 15s and 20s fool you. 25 tests, 40 LOIs, zero 100s, rubbish avg/SR, rubbish stats overseas. And probably 150 better keepers in RSA, he wouldn't make a provincial team there.
