Wish we had a good left arm pacer and why not try wrist spinners, England has always struggled against WS.

Should team go with Hardik's all round abilities or pick an extra batsman to be safe?

We only have a left arm  spinner masquerading as a left arm seamer.

Bumrah and Bhuvi are certain starters. This means one out of Ishant and Umesh would be chosen as the third seamer, assuming Pandya retains the allrounder's slot. If it were me, I'd go with Ishant. In the 4 games at Sussex, he has picked up 15 wickets at 23, which is very serviceable. Not to forget, he's been handy as a support third seamer over the last 3 years providing control. Umesh has been way to profligate and inconsistent in the same time period to get precedence over Ishant. Oddly enough, Umesh would be the second name on teamsheet after Bumrah in LOIs.

The other option for Kohli would be to cut Pandya out from the playing XI and accommodate both Umesh and Ishant. Kohli is well capable of overrating the batting might of this team so this possibility cannot be ruled out.

depending on the conditions, he can also play 6 bats plus WK plus 4 front line pacers as our spinners has not done anything in in tests England recently.

i would pick Kuldeep as the only Spinner as he is a mystery Spinner and is a SURE SHOT Success even on unhelpful english wickets.

i completely agree that Shammi,Umesh,BHuvi ,bumrah and ishant are the best 5 even today and should be selected but we need a Sixth Pacer like gurbani or ankit rajpoot or Khaleel who can learn from these folks and if one or two of them are hurt or not looking at his peak can come into the 11.

Hardik has to perform well as an all rounder.

I am not in favour of playing ishant when Hardik is playing as Ishant is a holding ,bounce & support Bowler and Hardik is also expected to do the same role. If ishant is looking truly in form and looking to take wickets which i dont think he ever plans.

Bhuvi, shammi, bumrah and Umesh- best three out of these 4 should be our bowlers with Hardik and Kuldeep.

BHuvi is Clever fox and is the most dangerous bowler in his spell of first 5 overs with the new ball, he can take 1 to 3 wickets in his first Spell of 5 overs itself and then he turns ineffective.

SHammi is a Sure Shot Wicket taker...if he gets his 145K pace going and his Line n length which is always Good in tests. if his fitness is good and is able to get the 140 to 148K form going - he is india's no 1 pacer.

Bumrah is india's fastest pacer and New Blood , destined to scare the english Batsman and he has to be in the 11 even if he does not get most wickets and he definitely better than ISHANT so He gets into 11 ahead of Ishant.

Umesh has become more wicket taking now as he has been trained by Nehra and he is looking SOLID. for me he should be in the 11 and if he and Shammi both are looking very good then I would drop Hardik and play all rounder bhuvi, shami, umesh, bumrah and kuldeep. if shammi is not looking as good as Umesh then Hardik should Play.

i see Umesh bhuvi bumrah hardik and kuldeep playing but if shammi is fit and ready he may get in ahead of bhuvi or Umesh.

In IPL , you bowl only for four overs and its easy to keep the intensity and pace whereas in Tests , you have to bolw whole day. Look at how Pakistani T20 superstars are trundling now. I would watch out the performances of Saini and Gurbani in the A team and would like to include them also in the mix.

But if you bet on any indian pacer with sustained pace throughout then Umesh will be the man to do it if fully fit.

Almost all Indian pacers have shown the ability to sustain pace in every session in test matches from mid-2015 onwards.

The list includes Umesh, Shami, Bumrah, Aaron and even Ishant.
