Session Tracking for England Test series

It is not just about winning sessions in England and winning them big and same way when you lose you don't lose it big like losing 7 wickets in a session. We have to keep an eye on how India goes about each of their sessions.

Session 1 - First test - England

Will it be better to track as 1. Eng win, India win, tie or 2. Eng win big, Eng win, tie, India win, India win big?

As you said a team may win more sessions but if it loses big in a couple of them it may very well lose the match.

KP and Flintoff turned the Ashes test in a session. Botham turned a lot of tests against Aussies in Ahses during two years of his prime. Referring to Headingley Ashes test, the series referred to as Botham's Ashes.

We need to win the 3rd session.  Not going to be easy, we need a bit of magic.

Session 2 : Eng (because the 2 dismissed batsmen were their weak links and Root-Bairstow p'ship was looking ominous)

Session 3: India win big

Overall India was able to offset the loss of first two sessions with a big 3rd session. Until we bat we won't know how good we were in the first day.

No post in this thread? Once again England won the 1st session on Day 2 big, here and are on course of winning the 2nd session too. Do update. Can add runs and wkts too.

Day 2, Post lunch : England,

India is batting

27 overs, 84 runs, 3 wickets

Rinse and Repeat. India came back big in the last session.

We were staring down the barrel before Kohli singlehandedly drags us back. 

 

Session 1 amd 2 lost but we won session 3 sooo big, the game is even stevens. 

 

Dare i say, a touch India's favor cos England would be nervous about a collapse.

 

Teams hate to bat in the 3rd innings with a super tiny lead.

But whatever these lead, Ind will have to score in 4th inning. And that won't be easy. Another 4 day match? Just because batting of both sides is too fragile? Pitch is flat and condition is aiding swing.
